Marine batteries good and bad

Post by Controlled chaos »

I figured I would start a new topic on
Marine batteries. I’ve bought a lot of batteries for vehicles, motor cycles, dirt bikes, fourwheelers,rv’s, heavy equipment and my favorite! Boats! But! My question is has anyone bought lit-ion boat batteries? I would appreciate some feedback if anyone has?

When buying new I’ve been going to Optima. Expensive but they are long lived and hold a charge for months without trickle . Don’t know about lith ion for boats. Didn’t know there was such a thing.

Those are known to be very good: https://dakotalithium.com/product/dakot ... 8d115eb4b3

Don't know about the charging from the main engine; also I think you need a specific charger

I know some guys that use them in their tournament boats and like them but they are sponsored by a battery company. The biggest advantage I see is weight. You could go through a lot of agm deep cycle batteries before you would come close to the cost of lithium. Ramel
