Lewis Creek lamprey treatment

Post by bagman »

Myself and Popster rode down to Ferrisburg this morning and watched the lamprey treatment being applied at the falls. F&W doing an excellent job. Also drove down to Greenbush road where a very impressive mobile lab was located where the TFM levels are carefully monitored by staff to insure the chemical is doing its job. Whole process is about 13 hours. Hats off to these folks for the excellent work they are doing. Hopefully Popster will be along shortly with some pictures.

So good to see both the USFW and VTFG team up again to control the Sea Lamprey. Today’s treatment was done in the Lewis Creek at the falls in Ferrisburgh. While one team was meticulously applying the chemicals, another team was several miles downstream continuously monitoring the results from the state-of-the-art mobil lab as well as constantly testing the water for the optimum level of effectiveness.
Thanks go out to all the team of players we saw today, as well as those we didn’t see. Bernie, Dave Gibson and Lee Simard from VTFG and Nick Staats, Steve Smith, Tony Curtis and BJ Allaire from USFW Service.
