As we approached the weigh in and BBQ, the lake was so calm.

Wow. Wow. Wow. If you are within 500 miles and miss this event. Shame on you. It is the best thing on water and it’s free and gives me good bumps when I feel it coming each year. I think after many years of mixing partners I have found a custom crew that weighs exactly 1000 lbs that we can fish Reelax in big weather with optimum ballast... it was amazing... double didgits by 930 and Raz’s grand slam by 10:30... omg what a day... one interesting tact we used was only brand new spoons and no scent. We stuck 13 if 15 fish and had an epic day.. the spoons tamiron sent were key to our early morning bite and the gold back seemed key to the hit rate.

All in all it was a day to remember with few soles missing at the BBQ but the group had a complete mix of old members with new showing the health of the lake and fishing community.

Thanks Randy, Scott, Al, Ron, Bill, and all the others who make this work every year... it’s great to see such a simple idea live on sooo long.

Just to be clear... Raz, Homewrecker, Gecha... 2019 we are going for it... the traditional Reelax shootout crew is complete... please lock in the date.... now... I want a rematch with Capt Kirk

Capt Kirk; I love ya like a brother man. This couldnt have gone to a couple of more dedicated fisherman. Congrats to you and your dad, Ancient Mariner. On this win... you both kicked all our butts right at 12:15.... at the wire... while I was dropping Deano off at converse... very sneaky..

It was good to see folks! And as always a great time! Year 3 for me, with more to come. We were glad that the fish were biting, though it was slower for us than last weekend. Looking forward to next year already!

I wish I could have stayed for Sun, but that's life. We had a great day on Sat although it was wet plenty of fish around, Finsntins and I stayed dry and busy with fish. Maybe next year we can be at the BBQ too.

I think that steelhead Raz caught is an even more elusive and rare creature....a fat domestic rainbow! If it is the lower fish below the brown, it has really teeny black spots and both ventral fins are intact(the steelhead are LV clip= Chamber's Creek and RV clip = Magog).

I think he deserves another beanie for his accomplishment.

Your eyes are better than mine. I can't tell the intact fins from the pictures. But I'd never doubt that RAZ could do something special, especially on Matt's boat with that crew!! It has been a really good steelhead fall season on the lake. Hopefully they'll show in the creeks this winter/spring!
