Thanks I'm going to try today. I'll post on how I did.
Re: Converse Bay access 9-12-18
Lake is right at 94, which depending on boat type is usually around the cutoff for there. It's really too bad with the amount of money that we spend on licenses and things like that, that there are no dredged paths out in any of the launches. This is especially true for launches like converse and apple island where there is little to new silt deposit annually, one time dredging a 40ft wide 5ft deep path would be good for years.

Keith is correct. Once it hits 94 or lower....Look out. Going out of Malletts the depth looked really skinny maybe 2 ft out of the channel across from the Marina in that stretch on Saturday.

Not quite as low as it was two years ago but getting close. Lack of rain in June and July. August was above normal but not enough to recover.

Maybe we will get some of this hurricane water. A good steady rain would be nice
Re: Converse Bay access 9-12-18
Mallett's is sketchy like Ron said, less than 2'. I launched there Saturday, it's shallow for a long ways past the marina docks.
Re: Converse Bay access 9-12-18
I am keeping my fingers crossed. A nice little 4-5 inch drenching would do wonders to bring the lake back up. But even if we only get a couple inches it would be nice, so long as it happens on a weekday!riverrunner wrote:Maybe we will get some of this hurricane water. A good steady rain would be nice

I went out yesterday and was just OK. 3' at launch but quickly went to 1.9' as I went straight out towards moored boats and then turned out towards the lake. At least 6 other boats were out and went the same way. The hurricane is supposed to come in by Tuesday lets hope it gives us some rain.

Is Apple Island still launchable? Camping next week at Grand Isle and hoping to get some time on the water.

Thanks for the good news. Hoping to hit prefrontal conditions before we get dumped on. We need the rain, so no complaints.

The Wunderground forecast is 1/3 of an inch of rain for Tuesday which will just be soaked up by the dry ground like a sponge.
Update:
Now it's Thursday with .5" forecasted.
