Savant Spoons

Post by gr8vermont »

I had some Savant spoons that have done well for me with salmon. Unfortunately, I'm down to just a few left. Does anyone know exactly what happened with the company? Can't find the same patterns now. I tried contacting Tom Manning a couple of times but no reply. Thanks for your help. Hope I'm not covering old ground here.

Spoke with him this spring, he sold out to the maker of Mooselook but when I go to that site they are not shown. Savants have always produced for me. I hope they are back in production soon!

Savant spoons were recently bought out by Brecks in Canada.
And yes, Brecks sells / makes ? Mooselooks, Mepps, Williams & others.
Have not found Savants on their website, so not sure what the future of them is?

Hope your friend makes out ok.
I have heard some nightmare stories lately about that situation.
Interested to hear how it turns out for him.

Thanks, everyone. Sounds like we're all in the same....boat! I had tried Breck's also but couldn't find them. Please let us know if that order produces the desired product. Sure would like to get some more Jake 45's in red/silver/blue combo!

Fish on, everyone.

Good news. My friend Mat stopped by today with his order of Savants! He ordered them directly from the Savant site.

That's great to hear! Heard of many with no luck at all in that situation.
Interesting that Manning is able to sell them after he sold the company?

I'm up in the Newport/Derby area this week end and made a stop into Wright's. They got a boat load of Savants including Jake 45's, Winnie Wonders, and some other monstrous spoon.
Needless to say...I left with a slightly thinner wallet.

The one right in the middle of your photo, the white one with black spots and purple edge, has brought a good number of lakers to the boat for me. Good catch, Raz. Guess I'll have to go to Newport for a day!

Saw some new "Savant" Winni Wonders the other day in a tackle shop.
They are in Mooselook packages. Believe they were called Winni's?
Some nice patterns, but I thought the pricing was too prohibitive for me.
