Craft night at our house

Post by Sugarpie »

A few weeks ago we had some quality family time doing a little "crafting" This was our project of the night:
Image

Lure taping! Wish I had thought about it sooner, but since we had no time to order any of our favorite blanks, I had to go to walmart and clean them out of silver speedy shiners... It was such a great time and everyone made some sweet lures, we will be doing this again many times through out the summer I'm sure!

Serious business going on here

On the left is Jeremy's oldest son, Chaston. On the right my oldest, Lexi.
This is Chaston's lure. The top pic is a photo I took in the dark(ish) with a flash on it, the second one is no flash with the lights on. It was very cool to see the difference! And the last one... Well what can I say he's the jokster ;)

These are the pics of Lexi's lure. First is in the dark, second in the light and the third was is Lexi showing off her nice looking tape job!

I caught one of these salmon on Lexi's tape job!

My son, Ethan... Broken Arm and all!

He opted for "simple" for obvious reasons ;)

These are the pics of Trever's lure:

The clown of the family. He is a carbon copy of Jeremy. It's too cute!

Deep in thought... Hard at work...

I caught this on Sunday on the "Jerrypie"

It was 1/4" shy of being a "master angler" fish. But he was delish!

And these are pics of the "Sugarpie"

I didn't have "eyes" so I improvised.
And I caught the laker in this pic on my lure.

What fun we had doing this together and then actually catching fish with them! Priceless :D
To fish or not to fish... NOT TO FISH??? Like that's even a question!!!!

Some great looking spoons guys. Already proven to catch fish. Doesn't get much better.

Eyes. Hmmm.

Nice looking lures. I don't have any "eyes" with my tapes but on my stuff when I feel like using an eye it is 90% of the time a 1/4" square of white glow tape. The other 10% is usually pink or green metallic fleck in the same 1/4" square.

As your lure demonstrates I don't think the fish care if a lure doesn't have a "real" eye LOL I just wish I could interest my 16-year-old daughter in taping up lures. She will sometimes "design" crawler harnesses that work out great but she won't tie up any of them! She's not so much of a fisherman.

Sugarpie,

Sure looks like you all had a good time that night and made some great memories for everyone! You're benefit is enjoying the memories and making new ones every time you use the lures. Who said family time without electronics is dead. :)

Sugarpie,
It's always a memorable time when you share a fun activity with your family.
I am sure they are all proud of their creations, and even better, those lures prove to be effective... they caught fish.

We got all the "bling" from Tamiron (the Honeybee Man, Jim) www.tamiron.com It was a last minute idea so I had to use speedy shiners that I got at Wally World, but Jim has all the lure making supplies. We will be doing many more "lure nights" at our house :) it was a huge success! Have fun with it.
