The Longfin day 2 and final day marlin open 2018 ocean city Maryland.

Post by Reelax »

Well Gerry and I just finished day 2 of 3 on the Longfin in ocean city... it is day 3 of the 2018 white Marlin open. We fished off shore again today and ran mahi mahi and white tuna flags back into the inlet.. 380+ boats an 881 lb blue marlin for 700k a tuna around 70 was like 960k. and a 2.4 million dollar 76lb white marlin are top of board now. The one in this video was only about 55-60lbs and was short so was only gonna be a leader grab release and we did get release pts for it. The mahi was too small to weigh.

Tomorrow is a rest day. FRIDAY we head back out for the last day. (Each boat can only fish 3 of 5 days)

Can’t wait. This has been a dream. More to come!

If you dream it,
Try it,
If you come to enjoy it,
Be it,
Once it's in you,
Believe in it,
Being in it, is it.... and your hooked!

Sweet stuff Matt and cool you got to live your dream. Can't wait to watch the videos. I found myself with my lap top running with the live streaming weigh in's nightly. It was great entertainment even when there wasn't a boat tied up weighing a catch. That's no doubt a world class event. Congratulations to you, Gerry, and the rest of the Longfin crew!

Ok here is Gerry with his maco shark... it was below the size limit so we didn’t bring to weigh.

Here is a short video of the end of the battle with big blue marlin. This fish was over 6ft. And 300+ lbs. capt said he wouldn’t bring to scales as it was so rare... would have had to be 124” to bring in . We guess it was only 80-90

I loved it when he bunny hopped away from the boat and ripped a 1/2 spool in 2 min... sorry mike start all over...

Hundred lb leader snapped like spaghetti when Lance grabbed for legal release. But look closely you can see in under water for last 30 sec of video..

Epic

What is cool is these boats can spin on a dime without moving forward or backwards... we had to do that a few times with the different marlin on... the black diesel smoke billowing from the wash and smell made it all the more dramatic. I am now down loading 3 more sections of the blue marlin fight and the white we hoisted aboard the last day... it was 60”.. still short to weigh by 7”!

I wanna go back bad.
