We went out on a 23' Parker. We didn't go offshore as the waves were a lot more than predicted. We fished 4 miles from land. Caught 2 flounders, one sea bass, and .... a squid. Kept it as bait and released the fish.
It was pretty rough going back near the jetty. We took our time and made is safely.

Fishing the bay is a bit slow as water is not clear because of the north winds.
We went crabbing and got feast of nice blue crabs.

We had over 150 crabs. Only kept about 50.
Yesterday we baited 18 crab cages.
Will pick them up tomorrow for another feast with friends.

New this year. There a a few Tiki boats you can rent with Captain. Setup a party of 5-6 friends, bring your booze and music for a 2 to 3 hour ride in the bay. You can go for a swim of just enjoy the view.
They were passing behind our porch as we were eating crabs.

We also spent some time claming and fishing. We digged 20 nice clams and caught 2 nice flounders.
I miss fishing Champlain, but in the meantime I am having a blast here.
Here's a pic of my friend Vincent with our catch.

We are getting ready for Florence.
Weather has been sunny and hot all week, but today very cloudy and humid.
Now rain is starting and water level going up.
Hope we don't get evacuated.
Will post if something exciting comes up.

I was surprised this morning to see it almost did not rain at all during the night, and now we can see some blue sky between the clouds. Ocean is fairly calm but its a bit breezy.
Expected thunder showers later today, will see how it goes.

Are we sharing the same weatherman?
Yesterday's forecast for thunder showers, lightning, heavy wind and rain.
As of this morning, nothing of these.
It's a bit windy, with clouds, but you can see blue skies above it. Water level seems normal.
Because of all that stirring, water is cloudy and could take many days before it is fishable again.
We are grateful Florence went further south but we feel very sorry for the folks in Carolinas. Residing near the ocean is mostly enjoyable, but it could also be disastrous depending on Mother Nature.

Glad to hear you fared so well buddy! I was worried your townhouse may flood being right on the canal and all.... let me know when you get back North, it’s almost frostbite time!

After all the September lousy weather, the water is finally cleaning up in the bay and the bite is picking up.
Sunday afternoon I took my friend Lance fishing after he caught a bunch of bunkers for bait.
The current was pretty strong, but we managed to fish the incoming tide near the route 50 bridge.
In about 1 hour, Lance caught 3 keeper flounders, I caught a few undersized sea bass.
... and while fishing, lucky Lance also found a floating large metal thermos. It was not a Yeti, but is was a nice find... full of ice cold Bloody Mary.
Today is still gorgeous and sunny, will be on the water most afternoon, and maybe stay a while for night fishing under the lights.

Sounds like a good time Gerry.. seems like your staying later this year? How is the longfin doing? Has she been back out to the canyons? Hope we can do it again in 2019. It was amazing.
