Wells Maine

Post by mac »

Finally got the family out on a salt water trip this year in Wells. As we were waiting for our charter boat I noticed other boats coming in with no fish. Over heard a couple of the charters saying that the fishing was not that good inshore and slow offshore.

I originally booked a Blue/Striper trip but when we got under way the captain said that the Blues have pushed all the fish out of the bays and inlets. The plan was to go out 8 miles and jig for pollack, cod and haddock . The mate asked if anyone wanted to start a pool for the biggest fish. I said my family is in.. Nobody else wanted to do the pool. I knew the jinx was on.

The captain worked hard to get us onto fish but it was not going to happen . My kids and wife all caught 6" Pollack at each stop.

I caught two Cod , one being a keeper! Would have won the pool...

My family enjoyed going out on the ocean and are looking forward to the next trip out when we return to Wells.
