Northern NY Champlain ducks

Slow, this was the least amount of birds I have seen on opening day since I started hunting Lake Champlain in 1999. Nice to get out and the weather was warm with building wind all day. Just totally in shock at the lack of birds. I hope the high water has given them the places to hide and that is why we just didn't see the numbers we usually do. We didn't hear the normal shooting echos up and down the lake either, indicating to our groups the lack of bird movement. Hope others did better than we did.

We experienced the same "no duck" conditions on the VT side. It was the worst opener since 1981...
