Re: Tough Year
I have definately landed some low 20s salmon with fresh cuts on both sides of tails or the backs. I think they just nip at whatever they can.

Re: line hookup in the release
Even with my punch pads I still give her 10 twists. Reason being I had braid cut into a pinch pad I was using, and no matter how much I tried to get it to release, it would not. So I lost a really nice salmon as I was reeling up the weight. Just sharing since it was a painful loss for me back then w...

Re: Inland Sea
Did that a few weeks ago. Was using a diver down 40 ft over 120fow and hooked a fat pike. Pretty lame haha. at least it didn't take the coveted spoon.

Re: fish getting off
Tamiron isn't kidding about new hook. They need to be filed as well. I use a decent bass pro brand hook sharpener and a few passes every other trip, and after a snag I'll sharpen. Foshingmachine is right too. On video slower speeds results in more spit hooks.

Re: fish getting off
. Ive video taped many fish biting my dull hooks. After sharpening, and I mean sharp enough to stick to anything. Not so much anymore. Use a magnifier to check out a "sharp" hook and see how dull they are.
I've had bad luck keeping the bigger crappie on this year too though

A 25 inch salmon with this weight training program would be like 10lbs.... That's a really nice salmon ExcaliburXcalibur wrote:Here is the 21 inch 5lb salmon caught by my better half.

Re: IS Report 5/27 and 5/28
I mostly catch mine around eagle, mountain right off the drop offs. Zig zag east to west along that contour ..... Or bounce back and forth between cedar and grand isle contours. Always seem to pick up salmon staging around baitfish. Last year I was fishing 30ft down on memorial day and got rewarded.
