Re: Saltwater trip interest?

Would need at least 6 people to split the bill for a private charter, otherwise I suppose several could coordinate purchasing party boat tixs and go as a group.

Re: Deep Sea Jeffrey's Ledge

And the nice thing is those Penn Squall reels I bought and the old Penn Senator rods I put them on can be re-purposed for flea season on Champlain.
40# mono on both and even though they don't have line counters I plan on trying them out with dipsy's real soon.

Deep Sea Jeffrey's Ledge

So since our usual Father's Day private charter trip wasn't able to get scheduled with the COVID-19 junk coming out of restrictions so late that the trip wound up being canceled (hopefully can make it up this Sept.), we decided to book a 12 hour marathon trip for a 5 to 5 outing. Started out with a ...

shallow, and other gripes

Does anyone know if the Army Corp (or who ever is responsible) will they ever get to dredging out the passage under the bridge at the sandbar? It's ridiculous that this has not been done since the public boat launches are so few & far between, Mallet's launch is way overcrowded and those on the ...

Re: Fleas and me.

I fished just north of Burlington Saturday, got into some lakers and the fleas are present now. Looked like spiny ones, not the fishhook ones.
They stuck to the braid, but not the lead core.
Wasn't terrible, but it will worsen as the temps on the water surface increase.

Re: Changing lures

Changing lures to find the color of the day can be frustrating especially with some of snaps on the market today. Some are very hard for me to open and i have to use needle nose plyers to open or shut!!! I was wondering if any one has found a "easy" or "quick change" type snap t...

Re: Rowboat Report: BR Salmon & Lakers !

Nice haul!
I did a solo trip out on main lake Sunday & went 4 for 7 on lakers, lost 4 to the net all were tanks between 10-15#, landed 3 more in the 3-8# range, wind picked up and got tire of fighting it.
60FOW, 35' down, 75' back, all on rigger, nothing hit lead core.

Re: Fishing rods need guides replaced

I replaced guides on several of my rods, it's not really difficult to do.
YouTube has plenty of videos to guide you thru the process...
The hardest part is finding thread to match the rest of it on your rod.
You may have to match as closely as possible and live with the minor color differences...

So where to they go after river spawn run?

I've never really understood where the eyes go after they've left the rivers and back into Champlain from late spring thru mid-summer. I've been able to locate them in late summer and do well in several spots, but right now no such luck as they're just not where they'd be after Labor Day. Curious if...

Southern Trip

Had a blast last week, although I missed the eyes in the river, I did manage to get in some sight seeing and fishing while away. Started out on west side of VA, hit up a winery near the campground. Fished a few places on the Potomac, Rappahannock & the campground lakes, but only managed a few di...

Re: Dangerous Poker Race

They might pay attention next time before disaster happens. Running right at small craft at high speed that are fishing in a near fixed stationary positions, then passing in between within 50' is not only illegal, but so dangerous & wrong. I've been hearing guys spouting off with bravado about h...
