Re: NEED SUGGESTIONS ON BOAT INSURANCE

I've been with Progressive for 8 years with zero complaints. Full replacement value insurance on a $30k+ fibreglass fish 'n ski for $150 a year. I've had two claims and my rates haves actually gone down in the last two years. One was when some jack@ss shattered my color-matched fiberglass wheel well...

Re: Bass still biting this weekend?

George - back when these rules were established, bass resources in rivers weren't considered to be a signnificant fishery. Mostly it was incidental catch. There was little to no pressure on or interest in these fisheries to warrant management activities. It's not really known whether anyone even tar...

Next time, put a second trail cam up high in a tree, camo'd real good, pointing down at the first cam. Then you'll have the low-life on camera ...

Re: Bass still biting this weekend?

Vermont's bass fishing season ended November 30th on all waters, including Lake Champlain.

New York has an extended catch-and-release season for Champlain, so you have to make sure you're fishing in NY waters.

Re: 20lb Brown !!!

That is definitely one heck of a brown trout! I noticed that it is listed on the Master Angler page as "released". If it had been kept and entered into the All Time Record program with a certified weight, it would have taken 2nd place on the All-Time list! http://www.vtfishandwildlife.com/...

Re: Where are the Alwives?

Boom and Bust...like vtbass said. Yep - it's typical of fisheries with alewife as the dominant forage. It's feast or famine. The predators get nice and fat in the "good" years, then their numbers drop and the few remaining get real skinny during the years following a big alewife crash. We...

Re: Where are the Alwives?

Check out how salmon and alewives interact in the Great Lakes. Lake Michigan in particular, is a good example, of what happens to predator fish when alewife populations crash. Very skinny salmon. That's the danger of the "boom and bust" cycles of alewife. They just can't maintain and suppo...

Looks like that could be a fun tourney if the weather's not too nasty! Wish I could do it, but I'm spoken for that day :)

Re: Bass tagged in Plattsburgh caught off North Hero

All those studies are generalizations for the preponderance of data. It certainly doesn't mean that every single largemouth hunkers down at the release site. As with everything in science, there will always be outliers that defie the norm.
