Re: Jigging or Other Methods w/o Trolling Gear?

Trolling doesnt have to be expensive, at least to try it. We started out running dipsey divers off cheap walmart combo's. If you have a fairly stiff pair of rods, throw some 50lb braid on them and put slide divers on them with ultimate dive kits and you can run them down to 100 ft. Even cheaper, is ...

I have a Polar Craft 198 but with the 115 on it. Let me know if you have any questions.

Converse and areas around 7/14

With a Northwest Wind forecast we hit the lake out of converse yesterday. It was myself, Vinny, and a buddy who had last trolled with me 4 years ago (the week before we caught our first fish trolling). He was a bit skeptical especially given that last time ended with 0 fish and him sitting at the do...

Re: Caspian Monster Pics and Video

Yeah Caspian use to produce a lot of monsters. There was a major smelt die-off (really people were pulling 5gal pales out day after day) about 5 years ago that it is starting to recover from now. I am not sure how frequently people catch 20lb fish there any longer, but from what I am being told anec...

Re: Looking for a Deep V , Aluminum

There was an absolutely beautiful west coast style boat on LOU this weekend not sure if it’s still there, but that’s a great site to find boats.

Could but why would I do that? I can catch fish myself without one, really just want technology to make fishing solo easier so I can fish more often haha

Re: Fishhook Flea infestation

Fished with a top shot of 30# big game this weekend. It helped some but you still have to be diligent about checking your line every 20 min or so. Was forced to cut and retie several times. I suppose if we caught more fish we would't have to check as often. Well thats the way it goes! Good luck, Ma...

Re: New Cannon Optimum Downriggers

almost... But I think whats needed is: Networked downrigger -> Fishhawk -> Autopilot -> Fishfinder -> Throttle Control Think about it: You are trolling browns on Ontario: You want to fish where the 60deg meets bottom, at 2.2 Downspeed. You fishhawk tells your downrigger what depth to run, your rigge...

Re: Fishhook Flea infestation

A little WD goes a long way, I will admit I have (and do sometimes) use it as an attractant a quick .25-.5 second spritz on a dodger, or on my rigger spool is actually quite effective for lakers. And the amount of petroleum is really negligible. I have a 3oz handy can in the boat, I bought it this s...

Re: Another fine day chasing cold water monsters...

Where did you find the small blades? Only ones I’ve seen around are either 3.5 or 4.5 inch (have a bunch of those and NEVER catch anything with them)

Re: Another fine day chasing cold water monsters...

What method are you using to fix your cheaters? Currently using snaps with pinch pads built into them either red or black. Ramel at the old fishin hole in Morrisville had them. You can also use Alberta clippers, they work great, It they are added hardware near the bite, so I shy away from them. Kee...

Re: Outside Mallets Bay

The northern end of the lake is hit or miss for salmon. Inland sea can have its days around savage this time of year. Otherwise its all about time, they have a lot more space to spread out in that area than they do by converse, and they love to move.

Re: Biggest fish of my life! Live caspian report

Congrats Keith. That fish looks like it would have come out of Great Bear Lake in the North West Territories. Do you know what the record Lake Trout is from Caspian? I think the biggest out of caspian is like 31-32lb so this wasn’t there, but I don’t think that there have to my knowledge been any t...
