Re: Side Scanning sonar

I use it sometime. It can't scan very deep, maybe 50ft down. It can be usefull to find baitballs on the side that you would miss otherwise when the bait is hard to find. It's useless to see the fishs themselve.

Salmon advice IS north

Hi, I'm used to fish the St-Alban bay area for bass in the spring time (april-may) but never tried there for salmon. We never see fishing reports north of the Keeler bay so, I guess it's not so good for salmon. Anybody have any experience to share about the north side of the inland sea ? Thanks guys...

Re: LARGER SPOONS?

This year on lake memphrémagog, the fish were in 120fow and chase the jig all the way to bite at 30ft. weird!

Re: What are the best saltwater angling reels?

You will have everything you need there. http://www.alanhawk.com/ 65$ is not a lot if you want something that is durable. You got what you pay for. Depending what is your target species, I would suggest a shimano sheros, it's probably the best (and the most pobular ''cheap'' reel) for the money. Don...

Re: jigging lakers

I usually use 1/2oz jighead with white rubber. Sometime smaller is better, 2 weeks ago, I ussed 4'' swimbait and had only followers, I switch to a 3'' with smaller jighead and they hit the jig almost everytime !

Re: jigging for lakers

I jig as soon as I find a concentration. The fight is much more fun with light tackle and, usually, the strike is vicious ! I usually use 1/2- 3/4 oz jighead (as light as possible) with with white rubber. sometime, smaller is better like this week, max 3''. I find fish and ''ancor with the ipilot'' ...

Willsboro to Port Kent

Been on the water yesterday all day. I scanned a lot of spots between Wilsboro bay and Port kent and I had a hard time to locate fishs. We manage to catch 6 lakers but we had to work very hard for it. 3 on the jig (cool fight!), 3 on the riggers with small 2,5'' yozuri minnow. Water temp, is very wa...

I don't know the hotmaps but navionics is awsome, make sure you have the sonarchart option. Check out the ''navionics web app'' on their website to have access to all the maps.

Re: bass fishing

Just came back from bass fishing........ bad day. I caught only 3 and a pike. It's maybe the cold front? the water is very dirty. I saw only one in the shallow. All my usuals spots who produce a lot usually in the spring don't worked today. Fisshed from Alburgh to St-alban bay.

Re: lakers

An other try yesterday for the lakers. We finish the day with 3 and lost 2 but, we had to work very hard to get them ! The only spot we hooked up was right in front of the Winooski river in 12 fow. All with flicker shad flat line and planer board. We tried all the way from Providence island to the W...
