I’m sad to hear this.
I enjoyed his company a few times.
Although we never hit the salmon together in the same boat he was always great to be about. I got some good tips from him occasionally.
He will be missed. Saddened for his family especially

You gotta be quick, gentle, and committed. Committed most of all.
I was thinking “wow, what a great job!” myself.

I’m sorry to hear about your good friend.
Some of us are fortunate to have maintained close friendships as we walk through life. Although I did not know your buddy, I was touched by your spirit of kindness as you honored him here.

Re: Boat Advice/Suggestions
How’s the boat hunt going? As a departure from above a little bit my thoughts may not be the most popular but are worthy to consider. I fished a 14’ closed bow runabout style for years. The small boat was a bit unique in how high it rides on the water for a small boat. But that boat taught me a lot ...

There used to be a couple local guys making them but I think they gave it up. You could get lucky at a local bait/tackle shop and find some. Call around, ask if they have any fathead blades or dragginball blades. They work great. Doesn't The Old Fishing Hole in Morrisville have them? That's only li...

Re: LOST BEGINNER
Most guys use a single hook, 6 ok but 4 is good too. Treble hooks are too difficult to remove from small salmon without killing them. Yes, single hooks work well. For whatever reason, a single hook with the slight offset will consistently snout or lip hook a salmon. Easy to remove without damage to...

Hey Dean! Nice chunk o' bauxite tailings.
That's just like my currently completely gutted '74 Holiday was, complete with the lovely orange decor. Might be your best boat yet! Nice to hear it's fishy, too.

Re: heading out Dec 24
Trolling speeds: The salmon are less concerned with how fast your lures are going than they are with how its action appears. Most of the spoons you'll find yourself using are going to have the right action (appearance) at speeds from 2.2- 3.1mph. So you should run the speed that makes the lure work ...

?.. boat has been winterized as of late yesterday afternoon... Please define this obscure term, "winterized." Does that mean you broke down? Ya, I'm just being dorky..... My hands have been tied with life and work, depending on the month, but after nearly two years of very little fishing ...
