Re: Jigging lakers near Burlington

If you want to catch and release them when jigging on the bottom, make sure that you bring them up slowly. If you bring them up slowly, they will release air on the way up to adjust to the change in water pressure. Then, they will swim back down fine. If you bring them up too fast and try to release...

Re: First leadcore setup - how many colors?

I really only use lead core line in the spring and late fall/winter for shallow depth when fish are up high. I only use them with my planner boards. I estimate that my lure is running 5 feet deep for every color of lead core that I have out at 2.5 mph. I have 2 poles set up with 2 colors of lead (10...

Re: Salmon at the sandbar

I found it to be pretty good Memorial Day weekend. You gotta search for the bait, but when you find it, they are there. Found ours 25-30 ft down in 40-60 fow. 3 on riggers and 1 on a dipsey diver.

Successful Trip When both kids Reel Salmon

It’s a successful trip when both kids on board reel in a salmon. Inland sea- late afternoon dusk trip while camping in South Hero. Crazy Ivan Sausage Gravy was the spoon of the evening. 30 ft deep in 60 ft of water. Finally found some bait balls after lots of searching. Both rods fired at same time ...

Re: 2022 DYP winners… The Country Angler crew..

We had a blast at the DYP fishing tournament. We got up at 3 am and were at the launch at 4:30. The wind was howling and waves were high. Talked with Reelax, Homewrecker, Greenhorn, and Joe for a while whether or not we would launch. We almost aborted fishing because of our small boat. The wind died...

Re: DYP Drawing results

SATURDAY...South winds 15 to 25 knots, becoming southwest and diminishing to 10 to 15 knots. Partly sunny. A chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Waves 3 to 5 feet, subsiding to 1 to 3 feet. I will play it by ear if we launch. 3 to 5 feet will be a No Go for the AmFishFil (American/...

Re: DYP- Save the date

Has anybody seen this?

SATURDAY...South winds 15 to 25 knots, becoming southwest and
diminishing to 5 to 15 knots. Partly sunny. Waves 2 to 4 feet,
subsiding to 1 foot or less.

2 ft waves my 17.5 ft Lund can handle. 4 ft I won't launch. Hopefully the subsiding will be early.

Re: DYP Drawing results

Matt (Reelax)- I have been training your partner. Look for this guy in the pic below. He is a workmate of mine. He has been out twice with me. One day slamming silver in Bullwagga and one day experience washing lures this Saturday as I was on the hunt where they moved to after Bullwagga hit 60 deg F...

Thanks Greenhorn. I signed up with a boat, but will be entering as a family team with our 11 year old son Lloyd De Ocampo (brown trout) and wife Lea Camara (Reel Filipina).

Re: DYP- Save the date

Question on rules of family team- My 11 year old son (Brown Trout) and I want to enter together as a family team. My wife says she now does not feel comfortable on someone else's boat. She just wants to drive the boat for us father and son team. Is that allowed to have a family member boat driver?

Re: DYP- Save the date

Yes, I think it does look really good right where it is. Made some improvements this year to the boat including a mast and planner boards. Tried them out for the first time in Bulwagga on Saturday and hit silver. Thanks for all the tips to my partner Dean. I'm going to do a boat entry this year. Gam...
