Re: 5/4 troll out of port henry
That's a great fish ! Good work keeping it on the hook after 10 or 12 jumps - the fish are going nuts in this 50F water

Re: 2024 DYP derby date set…. 5/18/24
Can't wait!! I'm the one holding the scale with Dilly Worm's fish on it in Jack's picture... Thanks for helping with the weigh-in last year. But credit where it's due, that's not my fish - it's my daughter's ! She cracks me up in this photo taken a little while later that day, like she's reminding ...

Re: Lead core setup
all good advice. So to get to ten foot deep.......you let out line until the second color is in the water ? Exactly. You only count the colors of lead that are fully submerged. How much the lead-core sinks is dependent on your speed. I believe you get the standard 5 ft per color going around 2.5 mph...

Re: Ice- ice- BABY
wow, you guys are hard-core !
it would have been a great adventure just launching in the dark, breaking ice to create a path, and watching the sun rise over the frozen lake. Catching all those salmon is a huge bonus ! Love the photos

odd-looking salmon
The last day of 2023 was a good day of trolling, and our little 2-boat fleet netted some salmon and a few good-sized lakers. This strangely-colored salmon was caught in Town Farm Bay late in the afternoon. I've never seen anything like it with the bluish color on the top of the head and back. Otherw...

Thanks for this inspiring report and all the great photos. You guys are all hard-core fisherman - nice job with the fog, debris, and waves. Sounds like it was not a day on the lake for the faint of heart !

Save a Turkey, Eat a Salmon, 2024 edition
Thanksgiving 2024 was calm wind and no waves, so with cooperative weather my 12yo daughter and I tried again for the family tradition of sparing the turkeys. We launched at Arnold Bay and stopped at a few usual locations looking at the sonar, but not seeing any signs of fish we crossed to the NY sid...
