Re: First Kayak Trip of 2020
I was sorely tempted to keep them, but they were all pre-spawn females that were practically bursting with eggs so I let them go. There are a LOT of perch in Champlain, pretty tough to put a dent in them if you are only keeping for personal use. I wouldn't feel bad if you keep it reasonable, spawni...

Spring / Early Summer Bass, Etc
Figured I would start a thread to keep up with for the seasons like I did last year. Saturday 5/19 Water: 46- 50° F Wind: Very slight breeze from north Conditions: Partly cloudy I caught two pike in the 6AM hour, my first open-water pike this year. The way it happened was a little funny. I was long-...

Re: pan fishing and cafishing2017 ADDED PIC OF 30 LB PLUS CATFISH 7/25/2017
Welcome back! Glad to read your reports. Last year I caught a lot of perch from shore here up north.. nothing from shore yet in 2020. Last year the water seemed to be up much higher in the spring. This year we have a beach already, not sure what that means for shore fishing. Glad you found some yell...

Re: First Fish this Season
Dilly did you keep that laker or did he cough up the minnow? I have heard they are not good to eat but I am curious.
Anyone want to take a guess on the ID for the baitfish... I am always curious about them. I found this book but still not sure. https://kutt.it/LLZi7C

Re: Mostly fishless kayak report, multi-day
Repeated skunking here too. I have only caught perch in open water this year so far, boo. And I've lost several favorite lures to debris while all the tackle shops are closed :-( I could try Walmart or Colchester Ace but I feel scummy going in for just a lure with all the restrictions. Oh and I brok...

Re: Salmon bite
I hope that wasn't ketchup along with mustard/relish on that hot dog; as it would null and void any enjoyment. The rest of the food looked great, but no grills on the kayak! Eagle Ed lol! I hate ketchup on my dogs! But maybe if I treid it I could catch a salmon... Now I wait for the ice to melt up ...

Yes, hope it's not asking too much but if someone could record (doesn't have to be live) that would be great! Even just audio recording from a smartphone would work. Thanks everyone.ATLSALMON wrote:Will anyone going to live stream this on the internet

Re: Anyone Ice Fishing? / 2020 Ice Fishing Thread
Had a fun weekend with my dad and an old family friend out on the ice. We found about 5-6 inches of good ice on Saturday with the temps just above freezing and not too bad a wind. Seemed like the wind was out of the East for a while which is unusual here. We fished from about 8AM until 3PM and the b...

Anyone Ice Fishing? / 2020 Ice Fishing Thread
Wondering if anyone here has gone out on the ice at all. I know this is not a big ice-fishing site...I joined Ice Shanty forums but LCU has better info and is Champlain-specific so here I am. I will be fishing the Tackle Box (Dockside) Derby this weekend with my dad and a friend. This will be the fi...
