Re: Fishy 1

You don't know me but I have enjoyed following your adventures. I think you have A LOT of fans out there like myself. As I get older, my regrets are mostly about not spending enough time with loved ones and specifically not having close relationships with my grandparents. My Mom always wishes she ha...

Re: LCI congrats

Those are some great stats! We spent 35+ hours on the water Fri-Monday and caught 20 fish (17 lakers, 2 salmon, 1 brown) but only targeted lakers when we would just need to catch something! This was definitely the slowest LCI we have had. Did manage to squeak out a good brown to place but tough goin...

That one you couldnt move will make you want to hit it again soon. Good job! And sorry about the damage to the truck. Hate seeing deer go that way, broadheads and bullets are much better!

Great looking fish. I love when they surprise you and its a big salmon bulldogging. Usually makes for some stressful net jobs, great job all around getting on em.

Re: Walleye help

Walleyes are ghosts! We were lucky enough to get a big one during the LCI this year but tough to target them with limited time in the area. We caught two this year, one big one and one 5lber a 1/4" short to weigh in. Big one was a fluke but got the other trolling a crank along the shore in 20' ...

Re: Success with flasher spoon setup

Pretty cool set up. Do you ever use dodgers instead? We have tried similar setups with dodgers and flashers but just never had the confidence in them but these usually get tied on when every trick comes out and not during prime time.

Will have to try it again and credit you!

Re: jigging lakers with targav18

That sounds like a blast! Pretty consistent action. Sounds like you could use fluke jigs?

I make backala (spelling?) with the lakers. Usually done with salted cod, its a fun way to eat it, could really make it with any fish so its more of a tradition to use lakers.

Re: Lakers mortality

A good read but it seems tough to get accurate %'s based on re-catching fish in such a large body. I hope the numbers listed are higher than actual. Nevertheless, a good discussion topic and great effort! I don't love watching lakers trying to swim away with a bloated stomach. We saw a couple dead f...

Re: Active Lakers and Expensive Mistakes

That would be pretty neat getting your stuff back. I bet some other equipment is down there too. Spoons at 5$ each would add up quick!

Thanks for the spin-n-glo explanation, always looking to expand the arsenal.

Re: Active Lakers and Expensive Mistakes

Entertaining read, sorry about the bill that came with it. Hate them ball grabbers!

Do you have any posts explaining your spin-n-glo setup? We used to run a peanut (think it was called) for lakers but never for salmon. Any success for salmon/steel/browns? Appreciate it!

Re: Walleye Questions

We would be the only guys catching cod on the party boats using a spray of WD-40. Never crossed my mind to use it for salmon/lakers.

Anyone ever tip the spoon with powerbait/worm or equivalent? I have heard of doing with this for browns with a salmon egg.

Awesome fish and glad you were able to net it! Makes for a great story. Funny how calm trolling around is until the chaos ensues!!! Fun stuff!

Those are great looking. I will have to grab some 3.5" smelts to give a try.
