Sorry to hear that Randy.
I don’t want to encourage any one to come out that doesn’t feel safe. But the Cathy Jean will be out fishing tomorrow. We welcome the company of anyone who wishes to join us.
As always respect the lake and be safe!

Re: Fishing community looses another Legend
Jim was a very good friend over the years. He was a very passionate supporter of our fishery! Jim’s loyal customers loved to call him and talk fishing strategies with him for hours on end. He generally always through in a bonus spoon or 2 with his orders. His line of aluminum spoons are a very uniqu...

Re: Small slide divers
Crayfish I have done many test with a fish hawk TD with the small Slidddiver. On setting 3 at 100 ft from the boat it will five to about 25 feet at 2.5mph. It also maxes out at about 25 ft regardless how much line you put out. On an inside corner or if you slow down it will dig a little deeper. Hope...

Re: Fun Salmon Facts
Very cool Todd! I believe the growth rate. Salmon are stocked in early spring of 2019 6-9 inches(often referred to as 1 year olds). The first year they can double to 16/18 inches by spring of 2020(2 year olds). These are the fish we like to see good numbers of to ensure a strong future for our fishe...

The only way to totally prevent tangles is to not put lines in the water.

Re: Running 4 downriggers ?????????????
Think about how your lines affect each other. Starboard side rigger down 60 with blades, short setback 5-10ft, fixed cheater 5 ft up. Blades should attract fish. Most probably won’t bite. But you got them in the spread. So set your rear rigger at 50, run a 20-50 setback, cheater can be free or fixed...

Re: Lakers mortality
I completely agree with Capt Paul. As most of my friends have heard my talk about this very issue. Catch a limit if you can. Be thankful and move on to another species. Many years ago when we were introduced to Jigging Lakers. After realizing how easy it was. I became concerned about the possibility...

Re: Salmon collapse?
That was my post from last year. I have been predicting this now for 3 years since the Federal Judge ruled to ban all control efforts. I have listened to all the procrastinators and disbelievers. But its pretty obvious now that all my predictions are becoming reality. I understand that there is very...

Re: Salmon collapse?
I am worried that our Salmon fishery is heading for collapse. The authorities have been attempting to manage cormorants for years. But now we have no control measures of any kind. If these birds are not managed it is my opinion we will not have a Salmon fishery in Lake Champlain. They are stocked at...

Re: Bait/depth for salmon
Follow the BAIT! Fish can only feed where the bait is. That being said, when fish are on an active feeding cycle many injured baitfish will drift up in the zone where your higher baits are run. You won't see them on your screen. So when fish are on the bite the whole spread fires. On a tough bite whe...

Re: Disappointing season - thus far
I hope I'm wrong about the birds. But seeing is believing. I spend approx 30 days on the water between mid March and June. I fish from Isle LeMotte to the Bridge. The size of the Flocks and the feeding frenzys I have witnessed the last 2 years make me a believer at this point. Most of the Salmon I h...

Re: Disappointing season - thus far
You can't catch what isn't there! It is not my intention to be negative. Just analyzing my experiences. Last fall we had very few Smolts(fish stocked in spring,1 year olds)but we had some. I knew we were in trouble. I believe cormorant predation got them. This spring was OK with some great 4-5 year o...
