Re: Info appreciated
I have only one idea to suggest and hopefully others will weigh in. When I fish for salmon from shore I've found that they shy away from line testing over 6 lbs ( I use fluorcarbon which "looks" like 3lb. mono). Of course they have Lots of time to examine my offering. Just wondering if a t...

Re: Catching Live Bait?
Vermont trapping/catching of baitfish is explained pretty well (IMO) on pgs. 54-55 of the regs. manual. Personally-harvested baitfish may only be used " on the same waterbody from which they were collected" (p.54) and "may not be transported alive from waters where caught" (p. 55...

Re: walleye how, where and when?
From my experience, and shared info. from walleye anglers, catching walleye consistently is a night time game. The guy I know who scores regularly fishes from a small boat, late at night. Not for everyone and definitely takes getting used to. I am still adjusting. Some use alewife imitating lures on...

Re: My first shore fishing experiences...
I'd been choosing my fishing spots based on wind speed/direction but was faced with an almost windless day. My wife & I were lucky enough to land one fish each. The flat lake surface was dotted with tiny, pin-point like dimples, and an occasional swirl of a large fish. Turns out that it was kill...

Re: My first shore fishing experiences...
Fishing Vt. side. fishy 1 , as I'm sure you know, it's way more exciting to cast to and fight them with a light rod and light line! Sooo much better than on a boat. I often catch salmon by lobbing to swirls as I spot them. Caught quite a few that way. Speaking of boats, when they pass by, even 30 ya...

My first shore fishing experiences...
First , I want to thank all the posters who gave me the confidence to try this and to all those anglers who shared advice. I've been fortunate to do as well as I have, only 3 times out so far. Here are two pics of fish I kept for myself. I also shared a few salmon with landowners who gave permission...

White Perch run is on!
Hathaway Point in St. Alban's Bay near Kill Kare State Park. Folks are catching all they care to keep (or sell). I find them to be great eating, although many others would disagree!

Re: BILL H-40
In addition to individuals voicing opposition, I'm hoping that marina owners, boat dealers, and others in the industry will initiate a lobbying effort.

Re: Looking for ice condition report
Check out the Vermont page on iceshanty.com. ; quite a few southern Champlainers post there. There aren't many ice fishing posters on this site, but its a great site overall!
