Re: Champlain 1st timer

I hope your trip works out for you. I’ve fished up there some and have marked some areas I’ve had success. The bass will be along the shore line in the marked areas in the weed line. If you have a boat, you can troll up and down the cut. There is an opening under the railroad trestle that will lead ...

Converse Bay/ Basin Harbor 7/8

I haven’t made many reports this year because I haven’t done much to report about. My wife and I went out this afternoon and evening to see if we could find some fish. Arrived at the converse lunch around noon to find a seven car lineup and the parking lot full. Unfortunately some guy had engine tro...

Re: Stave Island and outer Malletts Bay

good effort i have a buddy that does a similar rig for bottom dragging. he stays 20 feet off the bottom and attaches 4-5 colors of leadcore to his rigger. It works great. I’ve had a lot of success using it in the spring in the flats off of the mouth of the Winooski River. I even run them off of pla...

Stave Island and outer Malletts Bay

Decided to try for Lakers today for something different. Hit Malletts Bay launch around 5:30 and managed to beat the pleasure boats out. The Bass guys were already out there so the place was to myself. Well...almost, got hit up by the Champlain Basin guy telling me to be sure to drain my motor and p...

Re: Westport area, Trolling

I was across the Lake yesterday over by the water treatment plant in Panton VT. The water temp was 50 degrees on the surface but 46 degrees 10 feet down. I only fished for an hour and a half late in the day with no luck. Didn’t paint much in the sonar either. The water temp in that whole area was th...

Malletts Bay

Has anyone launched from Malletts Bay yet? I know there was some ice in front of the launch this past week but I was wondering if it was now clear.
Thanks.

Re: Planer Mast Height

I think you will be happier the higher you mount them. The height helps keep the lines out of the water and ensure releases slide down well.... My berts double planer mast adjusts from 4ft to 8.5ft and it has an easy 2 screw disconnect to just slide it out of the track it sits in... If it's in use,...

Re: Planer Mast Height

I believe that the Berts attach to their base with a screw that has a wing nut on the end. Big Jons use a larger screw with a large nut. Both make taking the mast down easy. I've seen alot of larger boats mounting just the reels on either side not using the masts. Thanks, it’s hard to find informat...

Planer Mast Height

I’m looking for some feedback and anyone familiar with Bert’s Costom Tackle Planer Board Masts. I’m looking to install two single Planer Masts, one on each side of my Striper boat on the Gunnel. With my enclosure, I need to install them about midway up the side. I’m looking at a couple of Bert’s Tac...

Re: Converse and Beyond 11/13/17

Very nice report... Was wondering where your reports were... Glad to hear your dad got his personal best.... It's on! I could have written a lot of posts this year. They would have all gone like this..”hit the water at 6:00am, off at 2:00pm. Didn’t catch a fish”. It’s nice to have them hittin...

Re: Converse and Beyond 11/13/17

Nice report and great fish! Mallets to Tohmpsons this time of year? Thats adventurous in July! You certainly covered some water! Yeah, I live in Milton and it drives me crazy to have to drive almost an hour to Converse when I’m literally three minutes from the water here at home. I’ve always wanted...
