Matt,
Your photos give new meaning to the term " frostbite season" , and I hope the " rest of the story" on that overturned boat is better than the hull.
I always enjoy your posts and wish you tight lines in the New Year.
Happy Holidays.

Re: Looking for advice on Downrigger bounce at surface
Some of the newer Cannons have variable speed. If yours does , just select a slower speed. If not , set your zero a foot or two below the surface, then just bump it up to the surface .

Re: Lowrance Cable Steer Autopilot Help
D-cypher,
If you have a "cable-steer" boat, I believe you should be using the "Rudder feedback" option, not the " Virtual rudder feed back" option which is for Hydraulic steering. ( see attached). Double check with Andre when you see him.
Good luck,
Jack

Re: Lowrance Cable Steer Autopilot Help
If your HDS 7 is an older "GEN 2" version , make sure you have the most current update installed. My unit is set to "Point 1 AP" for the " position". Also, you don't say whether or not you are on the water and moving when you have the problem. My Point 1 a/p needs to be...

Tamiron website
I am having trouble accessing the Tamiron website. My Norton anti-virus software identifies it as a Dangerous Website.
Does anyone else have this issue ? If not what website do you use ?
Thanks, Jack

" MONEL " is softer than steel and doesn't kink as easily. I use it with a "twilly" tip.

Re: AUTOPILOT
I have owned both the Lowrance and the Raymarine and they both work well. The feature I like best about the Raynarine is their control head with the rotary knob for adjusting the heading. Very easy . This is helpful in the wind when you are fishing solo or when everyone has a fish on . If you intend...

Re: Lowrance HDS. Software upgrades
I run a Lowrance Autopilot ( cable steer) with a HDS gen 2 and it works fine. Just make sure you use the most up to date software on the MFD. Also, if you have Rack- type steering , you will have to change your steering cable as well.
It is a good investment if you troll solo very often.
