Re: Fishhook Flea infestation

I stopped by the Converse launch this morning and was talking to the LC Basin guy there who does the boat checks. I was telling him about this issue. He was aware of the spiny fleas but not the fish hooks. If you think about it when you're on the water, put a sample of what you pull off your line in...

Re: Hot Dog...... Grand Slam on the Main lake

Well done! It was good talking with you out there. I managed a few salmon, 1 laker and a small steelie. The fleas were horrible! I'm spooling up my riggers rods with 40lb. mono before heading out again. I was looking for some Cortland "flea flicker" line but found out they went out of busi...

Re: Downrigger Rod?????

The Fish307 custom rigger rod is a lot of fun! 'Great off boards too. Too light to run in-line boards or divers off of. I've had mine for a long time now and would definately replace them with same when the time comes.

Re: Does slow trolling with your big engine hurt it?

I have a 125 Merc on a 17' Trophy. It could get down to 2.2mph but the motor wasn't happy about it. I added a trolling plate and cut an additional notch in the bracket so the plate was angled at about 45 degrees. Works like a charm. No problem getting down to speed and keeping the rpms up a bit is m...

I just spoke with the Dock Doctor folks. Converse docks were scheduled for installation today. I was told it shouldn't be a problem to have them in by the weekend.

Re: draw your partner derby

Hey Deano....Thanks for a great day on the lake. 'thought we were in it there but it wasn't meant to be I guess. To all you forum members out there... if you happen to spot the yellow top half of Dean's lead core rod along the shore of the ramp as the lake level drops...hang onto it and let him know...

Re: Shelburne Bay-/ New Guy

Ditto what Cardinal said...lead core and slide divers will get you down plenty deep enough for early season fishing.
If you have a radio, be sure to monitor ch. 68. You'll be certain to pick up a few good pointers.
Best of luck to you!

Re: Anyone have any photos of the new docks at Converse?

No photos but I launched from there yesterday. A great surprise to see the new docks. :o Concrete slab up top with a very nice floating section that gets your transome into about 5ft. of water. Be careful backing out because it gets shallow very quickly. I met Reggie (instigator) on my way in and he...
