Re: Boat winterizing

Definitely get a small pump for getting the lube in the lower unit. They're cheap.

It needs the cellular capability, yes. But you don't need active cellular service on it.

Re: Middlebury RV DAVID FOLGER News

Good read, interesting stuff. I spent a day aboard the RV David Folger a couple years ago, a really impressive suite of hardware and software they have aboard. Both Tom Manley and Dick Furbush were great explaining everything they do. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Navionics W/ I-pad or Tablet

This one does the job for me, no need for the apple tax. As someone who works in IT, big +1 to that! Any cheap Android tablet will work so long as it has GPS. Too much $$$$$$ to buy a new iPad just for this. Samsung Galaxy tablets are nice. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Flagship-Spreadtrum-Quad-Co...

Re: Navionics W/ I-pad or Tablet

I have a second generation ipad - an old one, it still works fine. The thing is you need one with cell capability, at least that used to be the case assume it still is. The GPS is built in to the cellular chip in the ipad. You don't need any cell service in order to use Navionics, but the capability...

Re: Daily Bag and Size Limits

I imagine when the limits are set, they take in to account some fisherman are catch and release, some keep a few, some keep all, and factor that in. The diary program is important for this reason, it gives the powers that be another tool to gauge the health of the fishery. Charters are part of the e...

Re: Town Farm Bay - May 12

In mid-May, I'm not ready to throw in the towel and say there's no big fish to catch this year. I just uncovered the boat and fired her up in the driveway to make sure I'm all good for the season, and some of you are already thinking there's no big salmon this year? Will it be a stellar year? Who kn...

Mooring cover recommendation?

I keep my boat in the driveway with a mooring cover on it when not in use. The one I have is as old as the boat (2001) so it's at the end of its life. Looking for a new mooring cover, recommendations? Don't need a custom made cover, since I don't trailer with it on, just something to keep the sun an...

Re: Salisbury Hatchery to close PETITION ADDED!!!!

I do see this paragraph as a symbol of hope, at least: However, after calling a meeting with over a dozen stakeholders, we are now collectively working on a temporary financial fix in order to continue operations at the SAFCS as we transition to a long-term solution. This will include addressing con...

Re: Salisbury Hatchery to close PETITION ADDED!!!!

I emailed Governor Scott today, asking about what the current plan/status is based on differing reports. His response is below: Dear Mike: Thank you for reaching out regarding the Salisbury Fish Culture Station (SAFCS). Unfortunately, the Department of Fish and Wildlife’s fiscal position continues t...
