Re: Boat winterizing

The lower unit takes more than 1 tube, so the pump is better, also neater. I use OEM for my Merc. 115 4 stroke. A bit more expensive, but I feel better doing it. The only other oil filter I would use would be Wix. Not much difference in price. I have always treated my fuel and run it through for a b...

Re: Shelburne Bay Surprise Sat 8/10

I have caught big smallmoth in the middle of the Broad Lake, 90' down on the riggers this time of year. Disappointing when at first you think nice deep water salmon, but soon they come up and reel in like a big perch Smallies are great eating, just a lot of work for no salmon. I had the opposite ha...

Re: Boat Shelter Help

I have a Shelter Logic 12 x 24 hip roof design like the one that Ron is showing. The original cover lasted 5 years and I replaced it with a 10 yr. warranty cover. I used 6x6 PT beams for a base and used 4' rebar to hold them in place. I used 2' spiral anchors on each corner to help hold the cover in...

Re: Perch or crappie near Burlington?

We've caught a lot of yellows and crappie around Savage Island. Prefer fat bass, but you catch what bites.

Re: Advice Needed - Fishing near Swanton

Just saw the fishing from shore part. Cast anything that wiggles like a shallow crank bait or a top water lure. Fish in the early or late day. Water tends to be calmer and the fish come in to feed. I would recommend finding a boat to borrow/rent and expand your horizons. Worth the money. Good luck.

If it keeps raining, you won't have to go to the fish, they'll come to you.

Re: Transom replacement.

One tough job. I replaced the transom wood on a 14' aluminum and I thought that was a lot of work. I like your idea of over drilling the holes. Better than new. Please keep us updated.
