Re: Liams personal best salmon

Great day for you guys, congrats on the PB. Photos just never do the big waves justice for some reason.

Re: Boat Advice/Suggestions

I just saw this ad a couple of days ago and it checks a lot of boxes for what you might be looking for at what seems to me like a very fair price. Edit: not a deal killer but it sounds like it has some leaking rivets, a common issue for riveted aluminum in rough water. https://vermont.craigslist.org...

Re: Just Starting Trout and Salmon

Adding on to Reelex's great tackle suggestions, here are some electronics that will help you. Apologies if I'm telling you stuff you already know. If you have.a Minn Kota with iPilot then you've already got autopilot. Just use the main outboard to push you straight and the Minn Kota magnetic compass...

Re: Four Brothers and Willsboro

They like to attach to aluminum transoms when the water's cold, no idea why.

Re: Four Brothers and Willsboro

I was over in Shelburne Bay collecting lampreys on the transom :)

Just a couple of small lakers today, no bait in that area and not many predators on the sonar. Nice day, though.

Re: Who is still fishing into FrostBite 2021??

Aye, Matt, I'll be out there when I can. You still fishing on Mondays? I'm solo fishing until this pandemic thing is over. I'm only 1.5 miles from the CG ramp but I'll be down south a bit, too.

Jack, yep, you can hail me with that name. Or Andy. Your bracket looks fantastic. Fancy machine shop ones are very pricey, and yours looks just as sturdy. I'm also a 100% DIY boat owner because I'd never be able to afford it otherwise, plus I enjoy it. Keep posting your projects, I know there's at l...

Re: Frostbite photo summary last 3 November trips (Bonus 8 lb silver salmon)

Jack, you might see me out that way on Saturday. I'll be in a bare metal old starcraft with a blue top. The Shelburne launch might still be shallow, but the Coast Guard launch is always good to go. I have a panther fixed kicker bracket that I've been happy with. I had to cut it at an angle on the bo...

Re: Covid risk is it worth it?

Great to see everyone here taking this seriously. With the cyberattack at UVMMC it wouldn't take much to overwhelm them now. After a 5 month major home project and dealing with this cancer BS, I'm finally free to do some solo fishing, with guest appearances by my wife. I'm going to see if I can get ...

Very cool Bill, thanks for the post of your visit. Beautiful fish. The kipe on those big males is incredible.

Re: Bad luck or Cursed

Honest question: what is a blown carburetor? I've rebuilt many of them, what is the specific problem with this one? It's usually just clogged jets or a stuck needle valve/float issue. You might be able to just DIY this. Or is it a manufacturer defect?

If you end up in NH, my family there use Eastman's every year. They have both party boats (large) and 6 pack license boats (I think these are more popular during striper season). They always catch fish, usually bottom fish this time of year. Great info on those species from drachma's post. http://ww...

Re: Bringing fish home to eat in hot weather

Tom, I fill Gatorade bottles with water and freeze them. I keep 12 or so in the freezer, and reuse them for livewell cooling and keeping fish fresh in a cooler after bleeding and gutting them. A wet towel over the bottles prevents the fish from getting beat up in the cooler. I'm one of the apparentl...

Finally some salmon

I've been out a fair amount this year and every trip has been all lake trout. Today I headed south and broke the streak with a few salmon. Two riggers (i was solo) with sliders down 25 and 40 all day over 60+ FOW. All the salmon (3) came on a large PPE. I lost several fish in the water, one jumper s...
