Re: Frostbite fishing

Yes thanks for all the info. It's just peace of mind that I'm doing the correct thing and not something stupid that could cost me a new engine. I really appreciate all the detail from those who have the knowledge.

Re: Frostbite fishing

Thanks so much for the advise. I've had an I/O for 30+ years and a couple diesels but this is my first outboard. It seemed too simple when I went through trimming it to vertical. I'll add the engine crank that's a good idea for all the little places water gets. Fishing has been good so I wanted to k...

Frostbite fishing

I'm new to fishing this late in the winter and am wondering what people's experience is with cold temperatures and outboards. I've been going out several times this winter but never when the temps have been much below freezing. By the time I get home I can put the trim down and the water drains righ...

Re: Nice last trip for 2015 - Shelburne Bay 12/26

Picture perfect day. Sad to say I winterized my boat yesterday so that's a wrap. Gut check the salmon and brown from in Shelburne bay had small but many smelt the brown and laker outside the bay had 1-2 smelt but they were larger smelt. Can't wait for some ice. BTW thanks again Ron!

IS Friday

Inland sea is not the Dead Sea. Went 7 for 7 all nice fish. Nothing to write home about but kept me busy. Most of the action was along the Georgia shore in about the 70 to 80' of water 20' down. Hot color was green followed by brown trout. Lead line outpaced the down rigger 5-2. I did a gut check on...

Re: Recap of last few days

Yeah thanks Ron on the VHF. I did have one but since cells took over getting a new VHF hasn't risen to the top of the list yet. Sometimes out on the water I feel like the guy driving an old Pontiac Vista Cruiser Station Wagon. Everyone stays clear of me!! Sometimes it has it's advantages! This weath...

Recap of last few days

Thursday went to Shelburne bay and landed 5 with several releases. Copper orange seemed to be the hotter color. Most fish were within the top 10' of water. I actually hand lined one while setting my release. Friday started early talked with Dave and Dean at Converse launch. Breeze was blowing so I h...

10/21/2015

There were several of us out today right off Converse Bay. What kept me going back and forth was all the bait. Maybe it's bad logic but where there is bait there should be fish.I landed a couple of lakers but no silvers. When I cleaned the one laker I kept I had to see what kind of bait was there. P...

Inland Sea 5/3

Did pretty well for the shakedown this year. I put the plug in the boat before launching it, never had to open the engine cover all day, and launched and landed successfully without hitting bottom. What else could be better, oh yeah 4 for 5 on the silvers and great weather. Had tiny and my son on th...

Re: Dead alewives vs fishing results

Fished Sunday 7:30 - 11:30 from the fill to the Winooski River -- nada. Talked to some Princecrafts and they said they got nothing. Seemed to be marking fish regularly but nothing biting.

Re: Shelburne bay

I went from Shelburne Bay down to Quaker Smith point --- Nada. Everyone I ran into had shrugged shoulders and shaking heads so it wasn't just me. The highlights of the day were being the first one through the 100+ acres of 1/4 to 3/8 inch ice on the broad lake, that was a first for me, and watching ...

My nephew with his first salmon 20.5 inches about 5lbs I'm guessing. Got him on a Yozuri in the chocolate milk in front of the marina. We had a couple more releases and also I caught the world but it won free to keep spinning. Good time by all, sunburnt and cold but no complaints.

Re: DYP DERBY SIGN UP SHEET

So you can see by the number of posts I'm sort of new here. I do have a boat and I did sign up with a boat. I'd prefer that I go on someone else's boat though or that someone with some good experience comes with me on mine. I've been fishing for about 50 years which only leaves a few that I haven't ...
