Re: Lonesome Lake 11/13
great report - thanks for sharing! Probably see a few more boats out once deer season ends - thsi is the best time of year to be on the water. You need a partner to go with you - VT law says two lines per angler.

Re: Close the cove
I have brought this issue to the attention of the F&W board and the Commissioner. Hopefully, we can discuss this at the next Board meeting.

Re: Evening trip to the Sea
Thanks for the report, Matt - beautiful sunset! I was out in the 1'ers yesterday afternoon, north of where you had been on Wednesday. Found temp break at 90', lots of bait, etc. Must have been 1K cormorants feeding on the surface...alewives? Between the cormorants and real birds, it looked like a fe...

Re: lamprey
Is your friend SURE that they are lamprey wounds? Frequently, pike exhibit sores that could be mistaken for lamprey wounds. There are two different things that cause these - lymphosarcoma and red sore. Pike also often exhibit open sores from spawning activity.

North end foray May 9th
Set out from Kings Bay launch at 9:00 am. Trolled the trench north of Knights to no avail. Marked very little bait. Trolled two lead-cores at 2,3,4 colors and two riggers at 25,35,40ft. ST was at 50 degrees, Ray Jeff showed 43 degrees below 12'. Gave up and ran outside through the gut (not a lot of ...

Have a greaat winter, Joey. With you and C-hawk both out, the shootout will be under-represented by team Skyland.

Sorry to hear you're still under the weather. The shootout won't be the same without you. Get better, and look forward. Best wishes!!!

Re: Northernmost Summer Lakers
North of Cumberland, try off Gravely Point on the NY side to the "sisters" islands by the entrance to the Gut. You'll want a temp probe, as C-Hawk said- the temp break can be elusive up there.

Re: Hydraulic Steering
I replaced the cable steering on my 1985 sea nymph 195 fish-n-ski with a BayStar system about 7 years ago. This is the smaller version of the SeaStar system, which was appropriate for my 115 Merc. It was an easy DIY project (one day, alone) and made a huge difference to the enjoyment of my boat. I r...

Give a man a fish, and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he'll eat like a king in his boat for a lifetime.

Re: Champlain 1st timer
Assuming that you can get into your rental by then and will be going fishing from there, here's my take on salmon and lakers in the area. From where you would be, the best spots are to your south. The closest area is from about where the gut cuts through to the inland sea and the sister islands acro...

Re: Salmon over ice
Flourocarbon leaders and small circle hooks on tip-ups. As you said, right under the ice to 10' off the bottom, change depths often. Also jig live bait in one hole on ice rod. Strip scales from any dead bait and dump into holes as attraction. Hooking bait at adipose fin seems to work best for me. Go...
