This is how I remember winter, only it froze a lot sooner...... Back when I was walking to school barefoot through a foot of snow over 3 miles.....up-hill both ways.......lol

a big difference though when it got 25 below it stayed that way for a week or 2 and was below zero during the day also. thats why the whole lake was frozen and we were fishing smelt on the big part of the lake in january. hope you had shoes on then.

My dad and I drove on the lake this time of year at the Champlain bridge in his 68 chevy pickup and visited shanty's all the way to Point bay. Only one big Crack to jump at Thompson's but with a bit or quite a bit of liquid courage we did it. The ice was deep enough that your auger went to the ice and you needed a spud to bang out the bottom. Guessi'n 71 0r 72
