Re: Converse Launch Status - January 6th
50 degrees Saturday and 40's thru Tuesday for us. It will get rid of the skating rink covered in sand for our driveway.
This may erode some of that ice by Monday:
.SPECIAL LAKE CHAMPLAIN WEATHER DISCUSSION...
AS OF 351 AM EST FRIDAY...WINDY AND ROUGH TO HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS
EXPECTED ON THE LAKE TODAY AS CHANNELED SOUTHERLY FLOW INCREASES
WIND SPEEDS OF 15 TO 25 KNOTS TODAY AND TONIGHT. THERE WILL BE A
BRIEF RESPITE THIS AFTERNOON WHEN WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO DECREASE
TO 10 TO 20 KNOTS BEFORE INCREASING AGAIN IN THE EVENING AS AN
APPROACHING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM FROM THE WEST INCREASES THE
PRESSURE GRADIENT OVER THE NORTH COUNTRY. WAVES WILL GENERALLY
RANGE FROM 2 TO 4 FEET ACROSS THE CENTRAL WATERS...IN AREAS WHERE
ICE HAS NOT FORMED.
THE POTENTIAL FOR STRONG WINDS AND WAVES OF 2 TO 4 FEET WILL
PERSIST INTO FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY...WITH WARM TEMPERATURES
AND MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINFALL INCREASING RUNOFF INTO THE LAKE.
THIS COMBINATION WILL LEAD TO MELTING AND BREAKING OF ANY ICE
THAT HAS FORMED ON THE LAKE.
RECREATIONAL FORECAST
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BURLINGTON VT
329 AM EST FRI JAN 10 2014
.THE LAKE CHAMPLAIN FORECAST...
.TODAY...SOUTH WINDS 15 TO 25 KNOTS...DECREASING TO 10 TO 20 KNOTS
IN THE AFTERNOON. WAVES 2 TO 4 FEET...SUBSIDING TO 1 TO 3 FEET IN
THE AFTERNOON. A CHANCE OF LIGHT SNOW. VISIBILITY 1 TO 3 MILES...
INCREASING TO 3 TO 5 MILES IN THE AFTERNOON.
.TONIGHT...SOUTH WINDS 15 TO 25 KNOTS. WAVES 1 TO 3 FEET...BUILDING
TO 2 TO 4 FEET AFTER MIDNIGHT. A CHANCE OF RAIN OR A SLIGHT CHANCE
OF FREEZING RAIN AFTER MIDNIGHT. VISIBILITY 1 MILE OR LESS AFTER
MIDNIGHT.
.SATURDAY...SOUTH WINDS 20 TO 30 KNOTS. WAVES 2 TO 4 FEET. RAIN.
VISIBILITY 2 TO 4 MILES.
WAVE HEIGHTS ARE FOR ICE FREE AREAS.

Re: Converse Launch Status - January 6th
yea but its all a south wind turning to the west on sunday so it may not push it out at all. the ice is 7-8 inches thick and even thicker in some spots so its not gonna just melt away unfortunately time will tell

Drill a few holes in front of the dock and set out some tip ups. That would make a great photo op.
