I would say it's because of those crazy frost-biters.
btw: I think I should change my avatar to a winter scene.

NWS Lake Champlain Forecast to Continue Year Round

Re: NWS Lake Champlain Forecast to Continue Year Round
Great! Last year I fished every winter week but the last two of January and the year before every week.
It is a nice go to to decide whether to launch.
Maybe anyone here could send your opinion or thanks to:
andy.nash@noaa.gov
I just blasted this off:
Hello,
I want to let everyone know that myself and many others will truly appreciate your work of continuing the lake forecast to a year round service.
We have a very active group of boat fishermen AKA Frostbiter's that break ice and launch our boats in pursuit of Landlock salmon and trout. I personally have done this since 1978 and more frequently we are able to fish more and more weeks of the year. I am in Vergennes and the site on Diamond Island is my go to site on a regular basis.
Your forecast is a great service for many to decide to launch or not. We have many participants now who trailer from Quebec, New York, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. This sport of locals and inclusion of these other people is a good way of getting an economic benefit to those who may support the boat fishermen. We may be "crazy" but I must add very happy.
Happy Holidays,
Randy Colomb " Surprise"

I agree Randy. It's worth a special thanks to Mr. Nash and his group at BTV. It is cool that they recognized our need for their service, which is perhaps greater than the need for the forecast during the summer.

Tremendous! The folks from NOAA are great people. We (Vt Home) service there ATV's / Sleds that climb mount mansfield almost daily.
