6pt. 163#, 17.5" outside spread
I started rifle season off hunting one of my box blinds on the edge of an alfalfa field; 3 hours in and no deer sighted. Decided that I'd be better off spending the remainder of the day in my pop up blind located on a travel corridor on the edge of a spruce/cedar - hardwood transition. Sprayed a Tinks 69 buck bomb all over on the way in, and hung some scent bombs soaked in Fitzgerald's Deer Dander for cover scent. I grab a sandwich and settle in for remainder of the day. About an hour later scanning the area; all of a sudden notice a deer on a steady walk coming straight for one of my shooting lanes; at this point he's 50 yards out; quarting to me and closing fast. Grab the rifle; and to avoid moving too much (and causing the crappy chair I threw in the blind from squeeking) shoulder it left handed. At 30 yards he stops; staring right at the blind (it's pretty obvious he hasn't seen this blind in the daylight before). He hasn't made it to the shooting lane and the only shot I have is a quarting too brisket/neck shot. It's obvious he doesn't like the blind and isn't going to cross the shooting lane......one shot from the .308 and he folds right where he stood.
