stacking lines from downrigger????????????

I've fished salmon all spring and had very good luck and this summer. I want to go after lakers and wonder when u stack multi poles off from the same downrigger is it like planner boards? Lowest line farthest back and shorter lead for top pole? Any info would be great thanks cpmaple (chad) Gonna head out on the lake in the am with my son to see if we can find any fish.
