have similar fins attached to our 20 hp. Merc., and I do think that they allow better control at trolling speeds, and do help trim the boat, a 14 ft, starcraft, much better. I have also heard from other's that they do nothing......I think each boat and combination of powerplants make this determination.....Having said that, ours works well, and I'm satisfied.......Gary
