Ontario Tribs

Post by champlain fisher »

Made a trek back out to fish the tribs of Ontario for a couple days last week. Water levels were a lot lower then I prefer to fish but have to make due with what it was. Hit a copuple smaller tribs and the 2nd one we hit had some fish in it. Had several hookups but only managed to bank a small king along with a nice steelie about 8-9 lbs.

The 2nd day we fished the SR and the water flow was well below what it normally is for this time of year. Plenty of fish though and it was a banner day for hookups and fish landed. Banked about 8 kings, a coho along with a nice steelie. Biggest fish I landed was a pig 28lb king.

Just got back from the SR Champfisher....Salmon pretty much over, a few in the northern creeks. Still a pretty good # of people in the upper stretch...not bad mid then a huge crowd still in town. Caught some nice steelies in the creeks & the main River. River went too 900 cfs today with the projection of the impending storm. reports were the river on fire with the increase in flow! Should pull lots of fresh fish & some browns in....to bad getting ready for deer hunting....should be off the hook after the big rains!
Here is a few pics from earlier this week.

Some DARK Kings from the creeks!

Some nice steelies & bows around too....but hard to get pics by your self when you want to release them quick!

Should be an awesome fall! Tons of fish in the system....taking the drift boat out the tail end of Nov (yes after Deer season!) Report back after!

Nice, that grass looks familar - LOL.

Got back out a little over a week ago and the SR had a surprising lack of salmon for mid October. Hit the Black in Dexter on the way home and it had a decent amount of fish - mostly salmon. Only got to fish there for about an hour and had 7 fish on and laned 4.
