I've heard second hand that some guys have good luck out by the GI Ferry crossing - of course near the hatchery outfall. However, I can't remember ever reading a post on the forum of guys catching salmon by trolling out there. I would think that any hatchery-born fish ready for spawning would be stacking up out there right now.
Any thoughts?

They are there. I've been wanting to troll the area but haven't. Yet.
Catch and serve with lemon.

A buddy of mine swings flies up there this time of year. Egg patterns are popular.

I have heard anecdotals about salmon in the rivers already, Champlain and the Memph both.
But not all fish spawn at the same time and spawning may take place over a number of weeks... So I think it would be worth a shot. Tempting to try it myself- trolling near the hatchery brook.
I can hear it now: "where'd you fish today?" "Oh, we went to the hatchery..."

I guess you can try to launch there but don't go alone.....
I had to drive out into the lake 15 yards just to get the bunks wet.

Re: Any thoughts on West Shore on Grand Isle?
Lots of fish out there been by a few times in the past 2 weeks as I am working in Alburg. It's pretty shallow and the fish are very spooky so trolling might not work as well as you think but planer boards might be the ticket like Seabill and I found out in Whallons bay in the spring when the salmon were in shallow water . The weeds up there this year are bad but if you stayed out a ways maybe you could troll with some luck they say 17,000 salmon visit that area in the fall so they are there and I have seen some 8 pounders rolling out there in the past few weeks. Good luck my fishing time will be in December to much work.
