New Years day fireworks....

Post by Reelax »

Hit converse at 0 dark 30 with Homewrecker and DAcomitted aboard for a 2016 shakedown....

Image

We were followed into the launch by Ken and Black Ghost for an early Friday launching...

Set up heat and new blue tooth waterproof sound system to begin day. Started right out of launch in front of Gardn island.

Image

Image

Crew setup spreads with 2 riggers with cheaters at 36 and 24. 2 slide divers out 50 and 75, and 2 lead core rigs on inline planers, 2 colors and 4 colors.

Image

1st fish of year was a slimmer..

Image

Bite was slow from garden, around thompsons and all the way to kings land bay. We decided to pick and run south to scotch bonnet area.

I set out this honey bee I just got from Jim a couple of weeks ago in the mail.. On 2 colors of lead on a mini board...

Image

Wham, Daves on!

After a long fight and a nice sky show we netted thus beautiful 22" steelhead...
Image

We got video, I'll post after it up loads.

After a salmon and a few more lakers, we decided to head back north.

What trip would be complete without a pass by split rock...

We worked hard to get into double digits... But we got there by noon or so...

Long, fun day with good friends... Starting out to be a great year...

What a day to be on the pond and a great way to start the year. The wind was light, company was great, and a few fish to make the day complete

Thanks again Deano for driving over big fish, and Matts fantastic net work put the fish in the box

Magnum bees have been the ticket as of late, and dark colors on dark days seem to be the pattern.

Great day fellas! Thank you

Great job! Thanks for sharing! Great pics! Your trip helps make the winter go by a little faster. That Bee in the picture is a #3 Purple people eater. We refer to this one as a long or #3. If you measure it, it should be real close to the 4" smelt that some guys are finding in their fish. The Magnum is the same length but shaped more like an alewife.

Yes I have a dozen or so of these #3's now and they mimic an adult smelt perfectly...

Magnum bees are great for the bigger smelt imitations. I run one each time I'm out either on the lead or a diver with a long lead for Browns or Steele

Fish on

Here's a link to a 5 min YouTube video raw. It was started after we saw him jump about 400feet behind the boat. At that point we knew it was a hog.
