Adirondack Bucks

Post by Shake-n-Bake »

Two of the nicer bucks my father and I took over the years. Mine on the left, his on the right. Dads is a funny story, had to beg him to sit on a watch that I new was hot, I had to work that day. On my way in to camp that evening in a blizzard there was Dad trying to wrestle that deer in to the truck! I was happy that I had to work that day and he got the buck, so was he!

Hey Reelax,
Dads 8 point was taken late in the 2002 season, all run out, weighed in at 147, we could not believe how gaunt he looked for the frame. The drop tine was taken early in the 2001 season and weighed in at 208. I invited a friend to hunt for a few hours one morning, I put him where I normally watched hoping he would see something, I set up about a 1/4 mile below him in the ledges in a nice spot and had a coughing attack! Figured I had better move again, snuggled in to a rocky outcropping about 100 yds away, blew the grunt call once and about 2 minutes later that beautiful buck came right off the ledges to me, about a 40 yd shot. Not sure if he came to the call or was just headed that way. Never before or since have I had a deer come to calls or rattling, not sure what I'm doing wrong. Pretty sure if Mike had not gone with me I would not have seen that buck, I would have sat where he was, I still thank him for going!

Fantastic NY bucks. NY has some true monsters.
