9/6/2018 headed back up to the trout pond this morning with a little rain falling started fishing at 7:15 am but not in the same spot walked up about 150 feet or so with more shore structure. worked out great until the down pour came at 9 am to far from my car and had to climb a steep bank needless to say i get soaked before getting to the car. the bite was hot to landed 10 brookies all released. will defintly hit that spot with 15 fow and structure again. on the way home stopped at another roadside pond for an hour until it poured again. i white sucker only run i had.

Nice, Matt! I have to say I love a mildly rainy day, and the cooling temperature.

9/7/2018 hit that spot again this morning with more structure and a little more depth. slow start at 6:45 am but picked up at 7:30 am. had 3 worm rods in with dillies and 2 fired at the same time 2 brookies on and decent size. not much action from bullhead this morning so it was a good sign. from that point on i had a steady bite of brookies all 9 to 11 inches and feisty. at 11 am i had 5 in my cooler and thats the limit so decided to leave. brookies are aggressive feeders and will inhale those dillies the way i hook them on so i didnt want to catch more and not being able to catch and release safely. the bite was steady but missed several . i had one big flub today that turned out with my shimano stimula worm rod tip broken off. i always leave the bail open for the trout to run with the dillie and feel no pressure well my farthest rod over i forgot to leave the bail open . i was reeling in a brookie on another rod when i saw that one bouncing wildly and heading for the pond got the brookie in then ran over and grabbed the rod noticing my bail was closed ugh got the brookie in but when i was taking it off the rod tip broke off. ugh again. i either forgot to keep it open or the brookie ist initial hit was fast and snapped the rod and closed the bail will never know. just ordered another. anyhow had a great morning landing 17 brookies and missed several.

9/8/2018 fished the same pond again in the morning with not much luck as i landed 1 nice brookie and several small wild brookies. but the little bullhead were abundant. ugh. well last night my son and i decided to try some night fishing for rainbows in my new angler 8 boat. it was a new experience for us. we set up in 17 fow after carrying the boat down a steep bank. it wasnt 5 minutes and my worm rod bent straight down and a good one on couldnt get the rod out from underneath my chair ugh and in matter of seconds it was gone. not long after my sons had a bite that almost pulled the rod out of his hand and nothing got the whole dillie though. in the next half hour we landed 4 brookies 6 or 7 inches. then the bite slowed and we caught some big minnows. then around 10:30 the boat swung around and my son had a great hit and another miss. we then left. the boat did fine and was very sturdy and easy to handle. will broaden my fishing areas now. whalons bay here i come soon. :D :D :D :D

9/10/2018 hit a roadside pond this morning closer to home and trying to get out of the wind. this pond is deep and hold rainbows and brookies. set up on the northwest corner behind some trees 40 degrees and 10 mph wind up there and would pick up later after 9 am. had lots of runs and caught lots of brookies but all on the small side and no bows. beautiful spot to fish out of the win in 14 to 20 fow. i had out 3 worm rods all on bottom with dillies attached.

Nice looking pond. Can you get your boat out there Matt? I would think troling would be fun and see what you could see on your fishfinder.

yes i can don we were out there saturday night till midnight in my boat. not much for trolling in this pond very deep and circular . i am putting a fish finder on the boat though. it holds some nice rainbows if you can get them to bite. never caught a brookie out of there over 9 inches . beautiful there as all ponds are in the high peaks

9/11/2018 hit the higher pond today in the high peaks targeting browns and brookies. got there at 7:45 am thinking it was going to rain. set up in 43 fow with 3 worm rods. from that point on until 10 am not one single bite. saw 2 good trout bust water one right in front of me but no bites. so i moved back down to the 12 to 17 fow . this time 2 worm rods on bottom and 1 with a bobber to try and keep the bullhead away. had 2 runs on the bottom right away landed a brookie and a bullhead. from that time until 11:15 am when i left the bite was non stop but the wrong species white suckers ugh landed 17 in an hour and 15 minutes and 2 nice brookies. all about the same size and they are good fighters but the dont belong in a trout pond the bullhead either. it was a nice day on the pond little wind which is unual up there and 61 degrees. i hope the deeper water produces soon im thinking of taking my boat up there and paddle around. no motors on ny trout ponds.

9/13/2018 hit the trout pond again this morning in the high peaks but this time i bushwhacked to the other side. very brushy and very wet ugh. set out 3 worm rods on bottom and ist fish i landed was a pumpkinseed ugh 22 fow. then some tiny bullhead so i decided to pull rods in an move back across to deeper water for browns but then my deepest rod had a nice run and fish on i land a nice 12 inch female brookie that i released immediatly since it was just hooked in lip of the mouth. so i was wet so i said i might as well stay . so i fished another 3 hours from that spot landind 8 brookies kept 4 badly hooked ones but caught more bullhead 14 and 2 seeds. i used 40 dillies this morning ugh. i like that spot but i need to get some kind of trail to it.
