Amen to that! Had been over 2 months since I fished open water. The lakers we're not biting with the 4-5 ft waves close to shore so I headed to the river but by the time I got there it was POORING rain. I donned my raincoat and gave it a go just the same fishing with a spoon on one rod and a swim jig on my new Mojo Bass flippin' rod. Got one good hit but that was it. For my determination I rewarded myself with a buffet supper including snow crab legs before heading North of the border. Even if it rained it felt like spring with temps up to 18 C (close to 70 F) and just that made it worthwhile to be out today. If this keeps up the salmon may head up the rivers in a couple of weeks! But lets not get ahead of ourselves....

Nice reports, fellas. Thanks for the inspiration. I've got the week off and I'm still reeling in confusion, as I was planning all along to be on the ice all week. I had just found the giant crappies, too, and dreaming of going back and catching more-- but I'm not going on that ice!

3/28/2017 hit a river this morning with wayne . we set up in front of birds and and shortly after fish on but shook loose. then wayne came over all excited saying how what looked like a huge brown following his lure next to shore but it spooked. 5 other fisherman showed up with not much luck either but everyone did hook at least one fish until wayne and i left at 11 am. good to get back out fishing with a little wind and 38 degrees. great day on the river. :)
forgot to mention my lure of choice this morning was a blue with black dot honey bee while wayne was using a silver krocodile.

10/31/2017 hit a river this morning after 0 hits shore fishing for lakers. had a blue/silver hammered krocodile lure on so left it on and decided to spin cast since i only had a 45 minute window. 3 rd cast a good hit a little wiggle and off it went. about 1/2 hour later had a hit and miss out in the middle of the river kept reeling and 10 feet from shore a hit and fish on i land my ist frostbite salmon. on the smaller side but still a salmon took my canon eos out to take a quick pic and it shook loose and swam away. then had to leave but it sure felt good landing that salmon approx 18 inches.

11/24/2017 was on my way to the lake for some shore fishing for lakers but got a text from jason asking me go up and fish a river with him. so i headed up and got there at 8 am with jason already landing a brown and a salmon. i was going to use my same method bobber and a crawler. 3 rd drift bobber stops and a miss. 6 th drift bobber stops and another miss taking the whole crawler. then nothing for an hour when jason has a good one on . dropped my rod and went over to get a pic . the fight was more than jasons rod and line could handle as it went down stream and shook loose. ugh a big one. jason left at 9:15 am and just before he left i was talking to him not looking at my bobber and he said bobber down but waited to long and another miss. then at 9:45 am bobber started up stream and fish on i land a 16 or 17 inch female salmon. shortly after another bobber down and another miss. had to leave at 10:20 am for an appoitment when walking out around the corner there was my fishing buddy wayne trying to catch a big male salmon. i decided to watch and what a show wayne and that salmon put on. it was in about 8 inches of water and wayne was agitatiing it with his bobber and worm and it was attacking the bobber and worm. at one point it had his line wrapped around its body and wayne couldnt move it. then it attacked the bobber and was splashing wildly. wayne pulled his bobber in threw it right on top of it and all heck broke loose fish on with only about 4 foot of line out. for the next minute or so it was making runs splashing i told wayne i need a picture of him dont lose it. wayne said how am i going to get it he was on a little incline so finally i said ill hold the rod get down and grab it by the tail but it wasnt that simple as the salmon didnt like that. finally after 4 or 5 times wayne trying to hold it finally got it with me holding on to the rod and wayne on his knees almost in the river. took a couple of quick pics and released it. what a show it was just crazy for 5 or 6 minutes. teamwork did the salmon in though. i have 1 regret not videoing it. ugh.
