Finally broke 9 lbs

Post by Surprise »

Hey gang,

As Most of you well know by now "Frostbite" is My Passion and today I got a lot of that back with my best to date salmon.

Longtime fishing pal Dave Werle "Crabman" and I got out of Arnold Bay and set up on the Northeast of Barbor Pt . Sunny day 6 inch chop One rigger goes down 45 with a Ivan Bomb Pop favorite the last couple days in the sun. As I'm setting the other rigger, pop goes number 1 and YIKES!!!! that's a fish!!!!
I grab the rod and the battle starts ....I had so many ways to lose this fish ......line wrapped around itself
and more ....finally to the boat and Dave expertly nets her....the hook falls out !

We called a couple people and said I got a 7-8 lb fish ...wow by itself.

Got home and Dave says weigh yourself and then with the fish ,,,,see what. Well I'm getting 10 lbs....

Went to Admiral Swenor's and 2 scales said 9 lbs...

I have to see what it weighs. End up at Rack & Reel and get 9.03 lbs HOLY MIGHTY ,,,,,,Yea!

One Happy Guy on the hope for 10 lbs.......I ain't quitting ....

Hats off Randy, you deserve it! Watch out for the boat traffic now, maybe even an out of towner.

Congratulations Randy! That is a very healthy chunky fish. Amazing feat! We went thru the same kind of guess around 8 lbs a few weeks back on our fish until we reweighed and were stunned it was over the 9 lb mark. Welcome to the 9 lb. club! :)

Congratulations, Randy, and thanks for the post and pics. Weather looks like it is going to cooperate this weekend. (Although your trip out earlier this week proves that you don't need calm water to get out.) Keep at it and you'll soon be over the ten lb. mark.

Congrats Randy, that's a beautiful fish! Just think, it probably lost a few ounces before your final weigh-in.
