Shootout Trash Talk

Post by C-Hawk »

Ok, so everyone's been a little quiet about the up coming Frostbite Derby, the best tournament of the year, and I'm wondering if you all are afraid that the trophy will end up with a flatlander this year? I am headed up on Wed to scout and fish some of my favorite spots , including Willsboro, Westport, maybe the Bridge area, and Converse. Give me a holler if you're out. I won't be able to contain myself if I catch fish, so I will give a faithful report, maybe even live.

Well all I can say is we were able to locate some bigger fish yesterday. I lost one early It 6-7lb easy lost on the jump and Fishdawg landed a beautiful 7.8lb monster after a great fight... mid day!

trouble was it was steel.

Reelax is ready

Very nice fish Steve! That fish was a meatball! :)

Fishing has really picked up and it's going to be a good Frostbite season!

October 10th from that same area 24.5" 7 1/2 lb. Landlock:

Ron, are you sure that's not a steel head, look at all the spots in the tail?... I wonder if it is some type of hybrid?

I never seen a salon with spots in tail like that...

Nice fish

I don't believe so Matt. Spots in the tail sometimes occurs with Landlocks. The rest of the fish is 100% landlock though. No translucent pink or white fins. If you compare the spots with your Steelie above even the tail spots are very different and more numerous typically of a rainbow.

I wish this fish was a steelie to put in the LCI Basin derby for 2nd place.

Good luck to you Matt in the Shoot-out with you and your crew on a roll this year! Some impressive fish taken on your boat.
