Excellent report! That's inspiring! Can you give me any tips on trolling speed this time of year?

Vary your trolling speed. Start at 2.5 mph on the probe and go up 2.7 or 2.8 when searching. Sometimes 2.3 or 2.4 on the slower side. I will vary speed throughout my 3-4 hour window I fish. With currents it can be tricky or turning around in the waves + current. When I make a change I watch the GPS speed first to see the trend of that change almost immediately and after 30 seconds to a minute the probe speed change will adjust. I also pay attention to the speed of the line going out on the clicker when I set the Lite Bites out and the bend of the rod after it's set out. If the line going out is too slow then I speed up. Downrigger cable angles depending how deep they are. Cable hum. I use all these clues and data from the Gps and Fish Hawk to determine correct speed. And most important don't forget to note the speed when getting bites. :)

If lures spin out at 2.5 mph or greater it's important to run lures that will can go faster without spinning. I like the HoneyBee MP6 / Heavy B / Speedy Shiner / Mooselooks for running these speeds.

No luck out there today. One 10" salmon but mostly bass and perch. We couldn't keep the little buggers off our lines. Landed one fat 3.2lb smallie though. That was fun even if it was the wrong species.

In past years you could not keep the Whits off now it's Yellows. Just another change in the IS.
