Broad Lake Steelhead

Post by C-Hawk »

Went out this morning to my usual spot, most of you know where, avoided the whirlpools, Japanese WW2 mines, dangerous rip tides, and caught a nice 7.9 Steelhead, 75 down, Silver Heavy trolling, Honeybee. Thanks Jim. Fished over deep watet near a drop-off. If you go these are dangerous waters and not for the faint of heart.

Knew it was chrome right away, 75 down and the fish came straight up and airborne. 4 or 5 leaps, one 10 foot tail-walk. Solo in 2 and 3 footers

Beautiful fish, congrats! Got a late start today - just one small Brown for us this morning but fun to see one.

That is sweet! Clean looking fish. Was hoping to get something like that in Oswego this morning in the five footers but only boated one king.

Jeff I was out there thursday and friday both days were very bumpy. Thursday got 6 lakers and one salmon friday 4 lakers in the first hour and then they shut off for a couple hours then picked up a couple more. My probe was showing 52 degree at 40 feet so I ran them at 35 and 40. The farther north you go the more floating weeds you would find

Must have been a lot of north wind last week, south wind today drove the temp to 65' first trip, later today it had climbed back to 55' after the wind died. Only fish I caught today, never dropped down for lakers.
