05/25 and 05/26 - 8,5 pounds - pics

Post by Hugues »

Rainy but fishy trip for the last two days. Never worked that hard to find some salmons on lake Champlain, it was a great challenge ! The bait was deep, we scouted for 5-6 hours with only 3-4 hits starting at Converse, going to every single spot we know on our way south as far as Port Henry. We decided to go back up where we started around 1pm and finally things change on the screen: we began to see more clouds of bait up to 20-30ish feet so we worked the area. Finished the day with 25 hits, all salmons but 5 lakers. The morning after we setup with the same pattern at the same place and it was great: 28 hits with one brown and one beast measured at 27 inches for 8,5 pounds that came on our Crazy Ivan Gravey Saussage Milkshake on 4 color leadcore line. Riggers was set at 14 and 25, spoons close to the boat with many salmons on the slide Cheaters with spoons having some yellow and orange.

Have a good weekend !

We tought it was a another big laker so we were really relax... until we saw the green back of this monster 20 feet from the boat!!! After a knee bend and a loud scream we reduced the boat speed and took the larger net and pray, ha ha ha. It's our new record on this lake my biggest was 6,25 pounds.

Great fish! Thank you for the detail and sharing. Newbies would do well to record your reports in a notebook! Your methodology is excellent! / Jim

Thanks guys... we raised and drop the 6 rods program (including the planer boards) 5 times to cover as much water as possible. At the end of the day every member of the crew knew their routine before heading to the ramp, ha ha.

We were running the spoons between 2.2 and 2.4 mph at the ball.
