Oh man, there was skim ice on Kingsland Bay yesterday morning. I found a big pile of perch at the mouth of the bay in about 40'. I imagined they were just waiting til the temperature rises before they head in to the shallows.

4/10/2018 hit the creeks again this morning looking for some pan fish action. started fishing at 7:30 am in the ist spot 0 bites left there at 9:30 am . an osprey was in a tree above me for an hour he didnt catch a meal either. moved to a 2nd spot with no action so i decided to toss my sinker and worm out as far it would go and instantly landed a small bullhead. only had another 20 minutes before i head to head home but i caught 3 bullhead and 2 yellow perch. if i go back tommorrow i will try the samle toss my line as far as i can cast.

So you haven’t hit the lake much this season. It’s a shame Spring is taking so long to set in.

I had 3 90 minute sessions in the last 2 days and not a single bite. The water is cold and dirty.

Although I told myself Wednesday night that I wouldn’t fish again because the weather was miserable and I couldn’t get anything to bite, I headed to St Albans bay again Thursday afternoon. I ended up catching my first fish of the season and it felt great. Finished with one bullhead, one silver perch and one sucker that looks like a carp.

Fished another hour yesterday and got skunked. The wind was nasty.

Was the sucker that looked like a carp a Trench fish?

I did a little research and it might have been a white sucker.

4/23/2018 went over to the camp today for some bullhead and pan fishing once again loaded with diving ducks and cormorants. fished an hour 0 bites. so headed back closer to home to try for some perch . set out with 1 rod a sinker and a half crawler above the sinker and drag bottom. didn take long ist drag perch on and a nice one the next hour or so the bite was steady ending up keeping 20 for dinner and caught at least 35. some were spitting up smelt.
here are some of the 20 perch i kept.Image

5/1/2018 went across the big pond today for some bullhead action and pan fish action . got there about 7:15 am with not many places to fish but one small spot on a bank due to the high water. ist 10 minutes there 2 bites 2 big bullhead. then went about 20 minutes and a bite and got the bullhead half way in and off he goes then the next 4 the same. then for over an hour with no bites then i land a bullhead which will be the last one for the morning with only 1 more bite and i left at 11 am. another guy came down to me from above and sadi he only caught 1 bullhead. no pan fish on this day either.
had a little free time after kids got out of school so i went back over to my relatives camp again to see if the fish are biting yet since it warmed up. started fishing at 3:45 pm with a slow bite but it picked up after 4 pm . both rods steady bites missed alot but lots were on the small size but they got bigger . had to leave at 5:45 pm for a bullhead dinner so i didnt want to miss that. did i mention it rained again ugh. kept 17 nice perch and 1 bullhead but easily caught and released another 25 . a busy 2 hours.
