8/17/2017 went down to deep bay in the morning with calm conditions not ideal for catfish and bowfins. brought my worm rod and threw that for some fresh bait. ist cast i land a nice bass . then i caught a 6 inch yellow perch and put that on my cat rod alive. just tossed it out with no bobber within 5 minutes a run and i land a bowfin. decided to catch some more and keep them alive in the pail to see what happens. got 5 6 to 7 inches and then put one each on my 2 cat rods and tossed it out.within the next hour had 4 runs landed 2 fins lost one and lost a good size catfish. had to leave but would come back in the evening with alayna and do it again.
brought alayna back down at 6:45 pm she caught some yellow perch right away. set her 2 rods out and waited she had 4 runs until we left at 8:05 pm landed 1 bowfin missed 1 and lost 2. alayna said her arms hurt . but she had fun. the water is clear where were fishing and not to weedy and the bowfins seem to be smaller in this area. hope to get back out soonImageImage

8/21/2017 very warm today ran some errands and then after dinner alayna asked to go fishing so i couldnt say no. went down to deep bay at the camp and set one cat rod and one worm rod for her since it was already 7 pm. put a dead perch on the cat rod tossed it out and within 5 minutes a run. wow she picked up the cat rod let it run for awhile the fin stopped and then tightened the line up i said alayna its hooked set the hook and she did. wow the rod was bouncing wildly . alayna says pa pa i got a big fin on i think. i said i think so to but could be a strong fighter. after a few minutes she got it to shore and wow it was wild busting water. got it in the net and put it on the grass took a couple of pics put it back into the net and let alayna release it to bite again. fished another 45 minutes with alayna missing another fin and she landed quite a few pan fish. not bad for an hour of fishing. it made my day. :D
here is alaynas fin

8/29/2017 took a break from the trout ponds today headed north for some pan fishing and maybe get some walleyes for dinner. started fishing at 7:45 am and it didnt take long to catch some nice rock bass. about 15 minutes into fishing my sinker rod was bent over and not moving hurried over picked it up and fish on a something big. got it about 20 feet from shore it opened its mouth and twisted downward and took the hook out. it was at least a 5 lb walleye. looked over at my rod with the jig head on and it was right out straight picked it up and fish on i land a 17 inch walleye this one is for dinner. the bite was steady until 9:30 am and then it slowed. quit at noon i landed 3 walleyes only 2 keepers 1 22 inch pike which i released and kept 14 good size rock bass. not a bad morning .Image

8/31/2017 headed back up north for some more shore fishing for pan fish and walleyes. cooler temperature with wind and clouds but the bite was there. fished a different location with deeper water 25 feet and glad i did. one rod on bottom with a sinker and my other rod with a jig head and crawler attached. started fishing at 8 am and fish were active and i got a big surprise instead of rock bass was catching 8 to 12 inch yellow perch. :D then around 9:30 am on my last jig on shore and stopper hit and fish on got it half way up saw it and snap broke me off 12 lb trilene big game. it was a big walleye to say the least. cut about 20 feet of line off to be safe since the line broke off so easy . still the perch were biting and landed some nice rock bass to. then at noon i was getting ready to leave i jigged and the lien stopped and went limp jigged it up and fish on a big one. what a battle didnt know what i had on but i knew for sure it wasnt a walleye my drag was just zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzing out about 50 feet or so. got it on close where i could see it and it was a huge pike. then i got nervous since i had no net and i was perched on small ledge with 15 feet of water straight down. i loosened the drag up a little more when i saw it and it kept zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzing the drag. dont know how long this went on but got it close and it looked tired so i reeled slowly and it just layed there bent over to grab it and wow its life came back and with only 3 foot of line from the end of my rod to him it broke me off. ugh. had fun though with it and if i fish this spot again will surely have a net. im guessing the pike was 35 to 38 inches and around 12 to 14 lbs. went home after that but i had 21 nice big yellow perch in the pail for dinner. the big walleye and the big pike were a bonus.Image
the pic was taken at 9:15 am i added more after with a total of 21 from 8 to 11 inches most were 9 and 10 inches

9/4/2017 met up with wayne this morning for some pan fish walleye and pike action but it didnt happen. very slow caught some small pumpkinseeds and 3 small perch and wayne caught 1 nice perch.
but wayne landed a 32 inch trophy bowfin saturday night that weighed in at 10.96 lbs 12 later when weighing it at willsboro outdoor world. easily a 11 and half or close to 12 lbs that night when it was caught. good job wayne. entered it in the lci basin derby.Image
