10/21/2017 hit my relatives camp again this morning for some pan fish and catfish action with crawlers. 10 mph south wind at 7 am and 41 degrees should be a good bite today and it was. nice size white perch hitting my rods steady until around 9 am and then yellows took over. the yellows were a little on the small size though. still no catfish then at 9:45 am rod doubled over and flipped back grabbed it and fish on i land a decent catfish. looked at my other rod out of the corner of my eye while releasing the cat rod was bobbing wildly grab the rod and fish on i land another cat much smaller. from 9:45 am until i went home at noon i land 7 catfish. also landed 3 big lake bullhead. got home and i filleted 14 nice whites and cleaned the 3 lake bullhead. the fishing is much better when you have a wind for those species. white perch do not like brightness. 10/22/2017 could only fish a couple of hours over to the camp very little wind but the yellow perch bite was on. caught and released at least 15 8 to 10 inch yellows before leaving also a few whites mixed in.

10/24/2017 hit my relatives camp again this morning with a short window but decided to fish. water was clear and a 3 mph south wind. i dint expect much except for maybe some panfish. had 2 rods with sinkers and crawlers. started fishing at 6:55 am . 7:20 am get a soft pull back and forth on my right rod which i thought would be a bullhead when it pulled harder fish on i land a small catfish released it looked at my other rod and it was doing the same fish on i land another catfish a little bigger about 5 lbs. then after that i landed some small yellows then at 7:55 am rod doubles over fish on and a big one. my drag zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzing and taking me out to the channel tightened up the drag when i was running out of line on the spool and just hung on. wow what a catfish i have on or is it. slowly would let it zzzzzzzzzzzzzzing my drag again stop it and reel some. after what seemed to be 15 or 20 minutes i land a hog catfish. took a couple pics measured it and let it swim again. it was short 29 inches but what a hog this cat was eating well. 8:20 am another great bite and i land another catfish maybe 6 lbs or so. then i had to leave. 10/28/2017 got to take my granddaughter over to my relatives camp today for some fishing. she had a good week in school so i promised her. set up 3 rods with sinkers and crawlers and she is going to catch all im going to bait and take the fish off. was very windy and muddy water so it was a good day for catfish and bullhead. started off she caught 3 nice yellow perch then the right rod bent over and fish on she lands a nice catfish. i was very busy so i decided to fish with just 2 rods. wasnt soon after she lands another catfish. then the other rod was bobbing she lands a bullhead. the bite was steady but the wind picked up and really muddy water now so most of her bites would be catfish and bullhead. at 10:30 am i was talking to my cousin that owns the camp when alayna yells papa big fish on i cant move it. looked way out in the 3 foot waves saw a big fish splashing and was on the ohter end of her rod. i said alayna your going to have some fun you have a huge catfish on. i put my arms around her waist and held her and told her to use the rod up and down and reel slack in quickly and dont stop . she got it started but was resisting . she kept at i though and twice had to stop and take a break with the fish trying to pull her in. finally about 25 minutes later i saw it and surprise no catfish a huge carp estimating close to 30 lbs on the end of her line. then i got excited desperatly wanting her to land it she got it to shore several times but kept zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzing the drag and back out so i tightened it up just a little and next thing i know it snapped the line ugh. i was very sad to say the least but alayna picked me up says papa ill get him next time. :) this carp was a beast to say the least. well alyana ended up catching 5 catfish 12 bullhead and 16 yellow perch all by herself and im very proud of her. we made some memories today .ImageImageImage

wow that's great! That's a nice picture you painted of holding onto your granddaughter so the giant carp didn't pull her into the water! Haha those things are strong.
